VIDEO: Queen Elizabeth and James Bond ‘parachute’ into Olympics opening ceremony
In a short film played at the Opening Ceremony, the Queen of England made her cinematic debut in style, being brought to the Olympics by James Bond and parachuting into Olympic Stadium from a helicopter.
In her debut acting appearance, Queen Elizabeth II played herself with Daniel Craig as James Bond in a film shot in Buckingham Palace.
The MI6 agent arrived at the palace in a black taxi and was greeted by the Queen’s corgis, who trotted behind him as he was led into a drawing room to meet his new boss.
Craig walked in to her private study at Buckingham Palace.
Bond stood calmly at attention for a few moments while the Queen sat at her desk, head down, writing.

After a little cough from 007, who was dressed in a black tie, the Queen turned around to greet the world’s most renowned secret agent, saying, “Good Evening, Mr Bond”
She departs with 007 in a chopper that flies above the city amid scenes of tremendous joy on the way to the Olympic Stadium.
The two seemed to be gazing down on scenes of joyful Londoners waving and celebrating, with a monument of Sir Winston Churchill coming to life and beaming up at them.
When the chopper stabilizes, James Bond opens the door and the 86-year-old “Queen” parachutes down, followed by Bond. The famous 007 theme song reverberates around the stadium.
Stunt duplicates of the duo parachuted into the Olympic Stadium moments after the film ended.
While the pre-recorded scenes aired in the stadium, the Queen was hidden backstage.
When it ended, the Queen then entered the spotlight with Jacques Rogges, president of the International Olympic Committee, escorted by her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.
Later, just after midnight, the queen formally proclaimed the London Olympics open.

According to the Telegraph, the BBC’s head of Drama Production, Nicholas Brown, the queen delivered a professional performance and “got it in one take.”
“The Queen made herself more accessible than ever before,” said Danny Boyle, director of the opening ceremony.
Gary Connery, a professional stuntman, portrayed the Queen in a parachute.
It was said to be the queen’s first film appearance. For the one-day filming in April, Boyle and his team were granted unparalleled access to her rooms.
The Olympic Stadium erupted in raucous applause as spectators shouted their joy.
The next day, on a visit of the Olympic Park, Her Majesty told then London Mayor Boris Johnson, “It all seemed to go very well last night. But I didn’t see my bit.” Boris told her: “You were brilliant Ma’am,” and she responded: “It was a bit of a laugh.” Buckingham Palace said she was “delighted” to be in the show, which she called “exceptional”.
Bond was hardly the only cinematic and literary figure to appear during the Opening Ceremony. Danny Boyle’s abstract tribute to England included Mary Poppins, Lord Voldemort, and Mr. Bean prominently.
