Royal staff spend more than an HOUR ironing each bed sheet
It is no secret that extra precautions are taken to ensure that the royals are as comfortable as possible when on official duties.
The ITV show Queen of the World discovered that royal staffers may spend up to an hour ironing each bed sheet in order to make royals ‘feel like they are in their own bedroom’
The program featured Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall visiting Rideau Hall, the Canadian royal home where they stayed during their trip to Ottawa.
Christine MacIntyre, the master of the home, is shown in the washing room preparing for their visit in the documentary.
This was confirmed by Macintyre, who said that the royals had their own set of bed linens and that “It takes over an hour to iron one sheet.”
Trending:
“There are special sheets used for members of the royal family, and they’re kept aside and only brought out on those special occasions when they’re here,” Christine said.
“It takes over an hour to iron one sheet.”
Christine also disclosed one of the reasons why each bed is meticulously prepared – and it’s a really thoughtful one.
‘After a long day of travelling there’s nothing better than getting into a bed that doesn’t feel like a hotel bed,’ Christine adds.
‘That’s what you’re trying to do is to make it feel like they’re in their own bedroom and they are.’
The two-part documentary focuses on Her Majesty’s vital role in the Commonwealth.
On Tuesday, October 2 at 9 p.m., the second episode of the much-anticipated documentary will broadcast.
Interviews with the Queen’s daughter, Princess Anne, and grandson, Prince Harry, are included in the documentary series.
Her Majesty records her Christmas greeting to the Commonwealth in the first episode, but the recording is interrupted by bird sounds outside the Palace window, forcing Her Majesty to re-record the whole message.
While the Duchess of Cambridge was mostly missing, her sister-in-law, the Duchess of Sussex, made an appearance in a poignant moment in which she was reunited with her wedding gown and veil, which had been meticulously stitched with Commonwealth flowers.
You can watch episode one on the ITV Hub.
