Princes Harry and William ‘Started Quarreling’ at Prince Philip’s Funeral

The meeting of Prince William and Prince Harry during the funeral of their grandpa, Prince Philip, did not put an end to their feud.

The event was discussed in a new piece for the Daily Mail by royal historian and biographer Robert Lacey, author of Battle of Brothers. Although Lacey expressed optimism that the funeral would “bring the warring brothers together,” things soon devolved into an argument “within minutes of the siblings getting inside the castle and beyond camera vision.”

“They started quarrelling again,” Lacey said.

“There they were, at each other’s throats as fiercely as ever,” Lacey was told by a family friend. “The rage and anger between those two has grown so incredibly deep. Too many harsh and wounding things have been said.”

He also said that he does not think the issue will be resolved very soon.

“The rage and anger between those two has grown so incredibly deep. Too many harsh and wounding things have been said,” the Crown consultant continued.

Lacey went on to say that the boys did not meet with Prince Charles as a family.

Lacey says “there was no reconciliation” between the brothers during Harry’s visit to the UK for Philip’s burial, and their feud “does not seem likely to end any time soon.”

A source told Us Weekly exclusively that the royals still have a long way to go in terms of repairing their relationship.

“Harry did speak to William while he was in the U.K., so in that respect, they made some progress,” the insider said. “But they definitely haven’t reached the stage where all is forgiven nor have they buried the hatchet.”

Another source close to the royal family told People that “everyone was optimistic” that Will and Harry would reunite, but “but nothing really happened.” “There was not really any time to build bridges.” The brothers will, however, have another chance for a reunion next week when they attend the statue unveiling of their late mother, Princess Diana, at Kensington Palace Gardens,” another source said.

“Prince William and Prince Harry will attend a small event to mark the unveiling of a statue they commissioned of their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace on Thursday 1st July,” a palace spokesperson told Us in a statement on Friday, June 25.

Much attention has been paid to them in the run-up to the event, after Harry accused the royals of “total neglect” in his Apple TV documentary series, The Me You Can’t See, last month.

During the interview, Harry stated that his elder brother was “trapped” in his royal responsibilities.

He again slammed his father Charles’ parenting.

The rift between the brothers started when William voiced worry about the pace at which Harry’s relationship with then-girlfriend Meghan Markle was progressing before to their May 2018 wedding, as previously reported by PEOPLE.

However, in his most recent public appearance, Harry offered a reference to his elder brother when praising young people’s “humanitarianism” at an awards ceremony.

A second source told Us earlier this week that the brothers will not spend much time together when Harry is in town.

“It’ll be a fleeting visit,” the insider shared. “He’ll be in and out.”

Of course, we can only hope that these rumors are false and that the royals are able to repair their friendship while Harry is in the United Kingdom.
