Meghan Markle’s demands infuriated Prince William and Kate Middleton
In contrast to the Cambridges, the Duchess of Sussex is reported to have gotten “exactly what she wanted whenever she wanted” as a working royal.
Meghan Markle’s “demands” and “Hollywood service culture” are said to have made Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton uncomfortable.
According to a royal reporter cited in a revised version of Battle of Brothers, Meghan was accustomed to a “Hollywood service culture” while William and Kate were “paternalistic” to royal employees, causing a “very deep clash of philosophies” with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The Cambridges are said to be concerned about being “nice” to their employees, who they recognize may not have a lot of money or privilege.
“I remember Christian Jones [William’s press secretary and later private secretary] explaining to me how the Cams [the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge] are paternalistic with their staff,” the royal reporter told author Robert Lacey.

“They copy the Queen in that respect with all her Christmas parties and Christmas presents to her people.
“They’re proud to treat their staff like family.
“They recognise that they don’t get paid loads of money, so they are just really nice to them.
“So this was a very deep clash of philosophies, with Meghan being used to a Hollywood service culture — getting exactly what she wanted whenever she wanted in that famous way that Harry said.”
Before his wedding to Meghan, Harry is said to have instructed his staff that, “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.”
“Everyone wanted her to be happy because they knew that would make him happy,” a source told the Telegraph.
“Do whatever it takes to make it work for Meghan was the mantra. We all cared deeply about Harry.
“Contrary to this idea that they weren’t supported, we were going to great lengths to accommodate their needs.”
According to Mr Lacey’s book, William was “instantly furious” when he learned of bullying accusations leveled against Meghan by royal employees, which she rejects.
Meghan made headlines earlier this year when she made a number of bombshell allegations in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The Sussexes discussed their decision to stand down from prominent royal positions, Harry’s difficult relationship with his family, and Meghan’s efforts to find support inside The Firm, as well as the racism she faced both within the palace and from the media, in the two-hour show. Meghan said that there were “several conversations” concerning her child’s skin tone when she was pregnant with her firstborn, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, in one especially unsettling revelation.
The Sussexes retired from royal responsibilities last year and currently reside in the United States.
