Meghan Markle’s biographer claims she may run for president of the United States within a decade.

Tom Bower, a British author working on a biography of the Duchess of Sussex, believes Meghan may follow in the footsteps of famous Hollywood celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan and enter politics.

“And what about the next 40 years? Once Harry has finished promoting his books, will Meghan launch her own global campaign to engage in the swirling muck of American politics?” Bower wrote.

“Just as she seduced the Royal Family, will she tempt California’s power brokers to promote her own political ambitions to the Senate and possibly beyond, via her friendship with America’s vice-president Kamala Harris and the Obamas?

“Although her political rhetoric is skeletal and her skin is thin to criticism, surely that is the next step on her Crusade for Goodness.”

Mr Bower continued: “With the support of Democrat godfathers the Clintons and the Obamas, Meghan should have little difficulty getting nominated as one of the state’s 40 Congressmen sent to Washington.”

“If Californians flock to her Crusade for Goodness, then after two terms — just four years — she can establish her political roots. After that, fate would take over.”

According to Bower, if one of California’s two Senate seats becomes available, Meghan might be a strong runner-up.

“She could also run for the state’s governorship, one of America’s most prestigious offices,” he said.

“At the end of ten years, the prime of a politician’s life, her record could well justify a bid for the Democrat nomination for the presidency.

“To get that prize will require a lot of learning, endless travel and an iron constitution to survive exhausting political meetings and defeat the critics.

“Meghan certainly has the guts and self-belief to fight to the top of the greasy pole. The question is whether she has the stamina.”

During the 2020 presidential election in the United States, Meghan urged voters to “reject hate speech” which was interpreted as a direct criticism of disgraced former President Donald Trump, who stated he was “not a fan” of Meghan.

Meghan revealed to Marie Claire in August 2020 that she intends to vote in the US presidential election, breaking the royal tradition of not voting in public elections.

“I know what it’s like to have a voice, and also what it’s like to feel voiceless,” the mother of two said. “I also know that so many men and women have put their lives on the line for us to be heard.

“And that opportunity, that fundamental right, is in our ability to exercise our right to vote and to make all of our voices heard,” she added.

According to a friend of the Duchess, one of the reasons she did not give up her American citizenship when she married Prince Harry was to leave the prospect of entering US politics open.

It comes as Meghan is rumored to be employing Oprah Winfrey’s party planner for her 40th birthday event, which would welcome 65 people while adhering to Covid guidelines.

Colin Cowie is planning her celebration at her and Prince Harry’s £11 million house in Santa Barbara, California.
