The Duchess of Sussex, 39, told Oprah Winfrey that her experience as a royal was similar to Princess Ariel’s in The Little Mermaid during the Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special interview.

Meghan recalled, “I was sitting in Nottingham cottage and The Little Mermaid came on,” “And who as an adult really watches The Little Mermaid but it came on and I was like, ‘Well I’m here all the time I might as well watch this,’ and I went, ‘Oh my God she falls in love with the prince and because of that she loses her voice.’ ”

But in the end, she gets her voice back,” Markle said.

Ariel, a mermaid who falls in love with a prince and sacrifices her voice in order to become human for three days, is the subject of the popular Disney fairy tale. The Duchess of Sussex said that she felt as if she had lost her voice and was unable to express her feelings.

Oprah said: ‘And this is what happened here. You feel like you got your voice back’, to which Meghan replied: ‘Yeah.’

Meghan subsequently told Oprah, “Our love story is greater than any fairytale you’ve ever read.”

Meghan’s Little Mermaid remark was shared with Oprah in Meghan and Prince Harry’s backyard chicken coop, which also featured a small enclosure named “Archie’s Chick Inn Established 2021.”

During their two-hour special with Winfrey, the pair revealed many shocking disclosures regarding their time as working members of the royal family. Markle, for example, said that she felt “silenced” when she first joined the royal limelight.

“I’ve always valued independence. I’ve always been outspoken, especially about women’s rights, and that’s the sad irony of the last four years, I’ve advocated for so long for women to use their voice. And then I was silent,” Meghan said in response to Oprah’s inquiry about being “silenced.”

People reacted to Meghan’s remarks on social media, with some wondering whether she was referring to the Queen as the villain in the real-life story, while others speculated about a future acting role for the former Suits actress.

‘I am the adult woman who watches The Little Mermaid, Meghan,,’ said one commenter, referring to Meghan’s amusement at adults enjoying Disney movies.

‘But point made. Who is Ursula the evil sea witch in that analogy, though?’

In other parts of the interview, Meghan discussed the sacrifices she took to be with Harry, as well as debunking tabloid claims that she planned their “Megxit.” royal departure.

“Can you imagine how little sense that makes. I left my career, my life, I left everything because I love him,” Meghan told Oprah.

Finally, Oprah enquired of Meghan, “So your story with the prince does have a happy ending?,” to which Meghan said, “It does. Greater than any fairytale you’ve ever read.”

Markle went on to claim that she was instructed not to comment on false stories and speculations about her in the press as soon as she and Harry began dating.

Meghan accused the Royal Family of having ‘concerns’ about ‘how dark’ Archie’s complexion would be before he was born since she is mixed-race and Harry is white, according to the explosive interview.

Meghan and Harry also announced the sex of their unborn child, in addition to speaking up about their royal departure and life in California.

“To have a boy then a girl — what more can you ask for?” Harry said of their son Archie.
