The 36-year-old prince and his 40-year-old former actress wife opted to go to the other side of the Pond, but one royal expert believes this means a pair who claimed to value privacy may need to open out more in order to continue earning.

Royal critics pointed out that when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed partnerships to create their own brand, they had to give up more of their private moments.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have stepped aside from their senior royal duties to pursue a private life away from the public eye.

However, royal expert Emily Andrews believes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex must disclose more about their “private moments” in order to boost their royal brand in the United States.

She said in the Channel 5 documentary Meghan at 50: The Climb to Power that the pair has to “remind” people that they are still royal.

Since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced their departure from the royal family, they have released many huge bombshells about what it was actually like to live at the palace — and it appears that there is now a reason why they can’t keep their tongues shut.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex resigned as full-time members of The Firm last year.

Shortly after moving to their Montecito home in California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex inked partnerships with streaming giants Netflix and Spotify to launch their Hollywood careers.

Ms Andrews said: “Because of the royal brand they can get all these multimillion dollar deals but the problem with that is they have to keep reminding everyone that they’re royal and to do so that involves giving more and more away.

“They have to talk about more private moments.”

“Harry and Meghan has consistently argued that they don’t have sufficient privacy, that their lives are difficult and burdensome because of the glare of the media,” royal historian Ed Owens added. “Then they go to the U.S. and this narrative continues until they suddenly open up about everything by agreeing to an interview with Oprah Winfrey.”

In March, Meghan and Harry were candid with Winfrey about the father-of-two’s angst.

“Suddenly this idea of privacy goes completely out of the window,” he explained. “Instead they are opening up very publicly knowing that millions of people are going to see and get a glimpse of the inside story behind the separation of Harry and Meghan and the house of Windsor.”

Apart from Harry’s sizable nest fund, they’ve resorted to the realm of entertainment after cutting themselves off from most of their old sources of royal income.

Channel 5 presented a special program Meghan at 40: The Climb to Power to examine how her media depiction has changed.

The royal family was not happy with Harry’s comments in the Oprah interview, and they are now concerned about his memoir, out in 2022.

According to reports, the Duke is collaborating with Pulitzer Prize-winning ghostwriter J. R. Moehringer.

The first draft of the text is nearly complete, with a deadline in October approaching.

According to Ed Owens, Harry and Meghan now have a difficult relationship with the media.

While they claimed to desire privacy while in the UK, he claims they’ve changed their minds now that they’re in the US.

“Harry and Meghan have consistently argued that they don’t have sufficient privacy, that they’re lives are difficult and burdensome because of the glare of the media,” he said.

It comes as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s “heartbreak” at the death of the Duke of Edinburgh will be recounted in a new epilogue to a book about the pair.

Since its release last summer, Finding Freedom has been revised with a new chapter that, according to publisher HarperCollins, will also describe “Meghan’s emotional healing journey from losing a child to the birth of their daughter.”

The finding freedom update, according to HarperCollins, will include “Behind the scenes of Harry and Meghan’s ground breaking interview with Oprah, details behind the couple’s move to California (and) the various philanthropic and business endeavours the Sussexes have been involved with since their move and what’s to come with Archewell Productions.” It will also feature: “The continuous challenges the couple face regarding privacy and the British press (and) the heartbreak the couple felt over Prince Philip’s death.”
