Meghan and Harry blasted over ‘hypocritical, manipulated’ leak of private messages on Kate and William’s anniversary

After leaking their private communications with Kate Middleton and Prince William, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been dubbed “hypocrites” by royal experts.

On April 29, 2011, William and Kate wed, and a host of royals paid public tributes to the couple on Thursday, as they marked their anniversary. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who broke away from the rest of the Royal Family, made no official comment.

The Daily Beast released the leak amid the couple’s appeal for privacy after their departure from the Royal Family, with fears that persistent revelations regarding their relationship with the Firm would jeopardize their hoped-for reconciliation.

The Sussexes “privately congratulated” the Cambridges on their 10-year wedding anniversary, a spokesperson for the pair confirmed later.

The announcement was slammed by royal experts as “hypocritical”

Royal experts criticised the couple, suggesting that the leak may have originated from their team.

“The Queen and Prince Charles made their messages of congratulations to William and Kate on their tenth anniversary in public so why didn’t Harry and Meghan?” royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun.

“Instead they relied on their spokespeople leaking out the fact they sent a message, making it look manipulated and contrived.”

The Queen was among the first to officially congratulate William and Kate, posting a nice note on her official Twitter account.

Mr Dampier also said that the Cambridge-Sussex relationship has been “broken” over the past two years, with leaks rendering things impossible to repair.

““William’s big fear is that anything he says to his brother in an effort to heal their rift is immediately leaked to the media, and that makes it very difficult for them to have a proper conversation,” he said.

“To carry on a war with Harry’s blood family is unnecessary and counter-productive, and the sooner they realise that the better.

“They should get on with their lives, stop playing the victim and stop playing on their royal connections by leaking stories while pleading for privacy.

“People can see through it and anyone who advises them to carry on this way is giving them bad advice.”

Mr Dampier is the author of the 2018 book ‘Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan in Their Own Words.’

Angela Levin, author of many books on the Royal Family, shared a similar sentiment.

“Of course, Harry and Meghan are being hypocritical, still briefing the media,” she said in an interview with the Sun Online.

“On the other hand if they hadn’t told the press about wishing them a happy anniversary everyone would have criticised them – which we’re not allowed to do because whatever they say and whatever they do can’t be questioned anymore.

“Their choice was to send it privately but everyone has to know how good they are by publicising it through their huge PR group of people.

“I think William and Kate don’t give a hoot about whether they wish them a happy anniversary or not but they need to talk about the things that really matter.

“They need to be talking to each other confidently and privately so they can trust each other and try and make amends over this huge chasm there between them.

“I don’t know what they said in the message but I doubt that it was full of love and comfort.”

To commemorate their tenth wedding anniversary, William and Kate shared a cute new video featuring the couple playing with their three children.

It revealed the couple interacting with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis in a range of rural areas.

The family of five can be seen scrambling on sand dunes and roasting marshmallows over a campfire in candid video.

The video was made available on the couple’s Twitter and Instagram accounts.

“Thank you to everyone for the kind messages on our wedding anniversary,” the post began.

“We are enormously grateful for the 10 years of support we have received in our lives as a family.”
