James May expressed his opinion on the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drama as he promoted The Grand Tour’s upcoming Lochdown special, in which he, Jeremy Clarkson, and Richard Hammond travel around Scotland.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex should “know better” than to broadcast details about their personal life, according to ex-Top Gear host James May, since it is “distasteful.”

Earlier this year, Harry and Meghan appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s show and aired a number of shocking claims against the royal family.

In addition, Prince Harry has stated that he will write a book of his life in 2022, covering everything from his military experience to his marriage.

The car enthusiast claimed he didn’t “take much interest in the Royal Family,” but he was aware of Prince Harry and Meghan’s problems at the Palace.

He told this week’s Radio Times Magazine, ““The Meghan and Harry story sounded a little bit distasteful.”

“Everyone’s got issues like that, and I don’t think the rest of us should know or care about it.”

The royals, according to the 58-year-old, are “supposed to know better.”

“I thought the whole point of a royal family is that they were supposed to be an exemplar.

“They’re aristocrats, aren’t they? They’re supposed to know better – just keep it in,” he said.

May also called Prince Andrew jokes in the upcoming The Grand Tour special Lochdown “a bit contrived.”

He said: “I’d forgotten all the Prince Andrew jokes. They were a bit contrived.”

Last month, Prince Harry said that he will be releasing a book with Penguin Random House that would be an “accurate and wholly truthful” chronicle of his life and would provide a “definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their retirement from royal responsibilities in January 2020.
