Baby Archie Likes to Crash Harry and Meghan’s Zoom Calls

During lockdown, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been making Zoom calls to their patronages and organizations close to their hearts, and it seems they’ve been joined by a surprise visitor on occasion.

Little Archie has a charming tendency of worming his way into his parents’ discussions, according to royal writer Omid Scobie, co-author of Finding Freedom, a recent biography of the Sussexes. “I loved discovering [Harry and Meghan’s] daily Zoom calls with the various initiatives and people that they work with. And how Archie is no stranger to climbing in front of the web camera and making little impromptu cameos,” Scobie said on his podcast, “The HeirPod.”

This isn’t the first piece of information we’ve gotten about Archie’s video conferencing habits. The Sussexes gave a rare peek of their kid on his first birthday in May. In a video for Save the Children UK’s Instagram, Meghan reads the children’s book Duck! Rabbit! Even in that short reading, it’s clear that Archie has a flare for theatrics on camera.

Archie turned to his father Harry at one time and cooed, “da da, dada.”

Prince Louis, Archie’s cousin, may relate: in April, Kate Middleton and Prince William confessed that their 2-year-old kid couldn’t stop himself from accidentally shutting down his parents’ conversations!

In a rare interview with the BBC, William said, “For some reason, he sees the red button and he always wants to press the red button.”

Just last week, Prince William joked about how relieved he was to see Prince George and Princess Charlotte return to school after months of distance learning and the summer vacation. “I think every parent is breathing a sigh of relief that school has started again,” William told Hello, adding, “Five months—it’s been wonderful, but it’s been a long five months.”

Prior to that, a representative for Meghan and Harry told Hello! and Entertainment Tonight that the couple wished Queen Elizabeth II a happy 94th birthday through Zoom. According to a source, Archie has been “loving doing FaceTime playdates with other small children they have in their lives.” We believe that if the one-year-old ever needs to undertake virtual learning, he will do it with ease.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex purchased their first family home in Montecito, Santa Barbara, in July, and moved in with their 16-month-old son. While Harry and Meghan are raising their son out of the spotlight, they often update the public on Archie’s progress via Zoom conversations and public appearances.

“Archie is really happy, and he has space to run free,” a source previously told PEOPLE. “The house came with a play structure that he’ll be climbing in no time.”

During a video conference to commemorate the Rugby Football League’s 125th birthday last week, the Prince was asked how he is adjusting to life in America.

Harry said: “Loving it, it’s fantastic. What I need is a few mini rugby balls that I can then get Archie involved with the game because at the moment it’s impossible to find any. But I’ve got a little bit of space outside which we’re fortunate enough to have, so I need to get him playing some rugby league.

“But I am just unbelievably fortunate and grateful to have outdoor space and see my son be able to be outside because I know so many people just haven’t had that opportunity in the last five months.”

During the coronavirus epidemic, Prince Harry and Archie have been spending a lot of time outdoors, and the Queen’s grandson wants to pass on his love of rugby to his own kid one day.

“Our little man is our number one priority but then our work after that is the second priority and we’re just doing everything we can to do our part to make the world a better place,” Harry remarked.
