Smart Princess: Kate’s Role in Queen’s Response to Sussexes’ Oprah Interview

New reports reveal that the late Queen’s endorsement of a response to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Oprah Winfrey interview was influenced by Princess Kate.

The Sussexes’ revelations during the interview caused shockwaves worldwide and ignited a heated debate within Buckingham Palace, according to sources cited by The Times.

While formulating the response, an insider alleges that it was Kate who exerted pressure on palace staff to include the famous “recollections may vary” line, as reported by The Sun.

Initially, the statement drafted by palace officials was much milder, focusing on Harry and Meghan as beloved members of the family.

However, Kate believed that history would judge this statement and desired a stronger stance from the firm.

The insider further reveals that Prince William also wanted the statement to be toughened up, and Kate supported his decision.

According to the source, the Royal Mum-of-three insisted that the controversial statement must be included.

The final draft was swiftly approved by the late Queen at Buckingham Palace.

This move by Kate demonstrates her attentive nature and willingness to listen to the Queen and Prince Philip.

It mirrors the classic approach of Queen Elizabeth II, who never paid attention to the cameras and simply focused on fulfilling her duties.

Kate has evidently taken this advice to heart, showcasing her astuteness.

However, the insider explains that two senior officials hesitated to include the phrase in the draft, fearing it would perpetuate the rivalry with Harry and Meghan.

This very attitude is what led to the escalating situation with the Sussexes.

The fact that William and Kate took a firm stance and gained the Queen’s approval is commendable.

When William ascends the throne, it is expected that he will effectively address the Harry and Meghan situation, putting an end to the notion of a “much-loved family” without consequences.

It is worth noting that William was the one who initially separated Harry and Meghan from Kensington Palace and the Royal Foundation.

Indulging them or giving in to prevent arguments or tantrums is never a wise choice.

This approach is not new to Harry and Meghan, especially considering their behavior as youngsters and teenagers.

A tougher approach is necessary, even if it may seem easier to give in and avoid conflict.

Perhaps it is an ideal scenario for Charles to step aside and allow William and Kate to handle the matters concerning the Sussexes.

This way, the right course of action can be taken without Charles complicating things with his weaknesses.

Author Valentin Lowe suggests that William’s private secretary, Jean-Christophe Gray, who had only been in the role for three weeks, came up with the phrase.

Catherine was adamant that the milder draft statement needed to be strengthened, playing an instrumental role in sending the more robust response to the Queen.

This serves as another example of Kate’s determined nature, which often surpasses her outward appearance.

The four-sentence statement, released on Tuesday, expressed the family’s sadness for both Meghan and Harry and acknowledged the concerns raised, particularly regarding discrimination.

It also emphasized that although recollections may differ, these issues are taken seriously and will be addressed privately by the family.

The statement concluded by affirming that Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be cherished members of the family.

Her Majesty released this statement nearly two days after the explosive interview, emphasizing the Royal Family’s sincere consideration of the allegations made by the Sussexes.
