Shia LaBeouf Blames Method Acting for on-set fight with Alec Baldwin

Shia LaBeouf is blaming his strange acting antics for his firing from the Broadway show Orphans this year. He earlier blamed the liquor for his butt-smacking disturbance at Broadway’s Cabaret.

The 28-year-old star claims he was only practicing for his character when he fought with Alec Baldwin, 56, on the set of Broadway show ‘Orphans,’ claiming the same thing happened when he smacked actor Alan Cumming’s buttocks at a performance of ‘Cabaret.’

“Alec and I butted heads hard,” he told Interview magazine. “I was sleeping in the park… At the time, I was out of my mind. My whole goal was to intimidate the f*** out of Baldwin. That was the role. And it wasn’t going to be fake. I wanted him to be scared… so I went about doing that for three weeks of rehearsal.”

The actor, who has appeared in films such as ‘Lawless’ and the ‘Transformers’ movie, was detained in June after reportedly hitting Alan Cumming and spitting at a police officer while inebriated. “I was reading about performance art of the ’60s and ’70s and so I thought we’re all involved here. It’s not just your stage. We’re all in here and we’re all part of this. I was wrong,” Shia said.

After it was revealed that he would no longer be making his Broadway debut in the production of Orphans owing to “creative issues,” LaBeouf leaked personal emails from Baldwin and Orphans director Daniel Sullivanis in February.

“I’m too old for disagreeable situations. You’re one hell of a great actor. Alec is who he is. you are who you are. you two are incompatible. I should have known it,” Sullivan responded to LaBeouf’s “apology” email.

Sullivan goes on, “You tried to warn me. you said you were a different breed. I didn’t get it.”

The actor also acknowledged that he pushes himself to extremes because he lacks confidence in his performance at the European premiere of his film Fury, which closed the BFI London Film Festival.

“I don’t have faith in my abilities or skill set,” LaBeouf, who was photographed in Leicester Square with girlfriend Mia Goth, stated. “I try to alter my life so that I don’t have to conjure anything.”

Shia LaBeouf annoyed Brad Pitt by refusing to shower on set

According to the Mail on Sunday, actor Shia LaBeouf alienated the rest of the ensemble of Brad Pitt’s tank film Fury. According to an item in the paper’s entertainment blog, LaBeouf extracted one of his own teeth and did not wash himself during the entire shoot in order to better recreate conditions on the front lines during WWII.

The Transformers star has chosen a Method actor approach to his character in the WWII drama, which has caused some controversy on set.

‘Shia drove everyone mad on set trying to prove that he was the most dedicated star,’ a source told The Mail on Sunday.

‘He pulled out his own tooth during the first few weeks of filming and then refused to shower for weeks on end so he could better understand how his character would have felt living in the trenches.’

LaBeouf’s behavior was so disliked among cast members, including Brad Pitt, Jason Isaacs, and Logan Lerman, that he was placed in a bed and breakfast away from them, according to the Mail on Sunday’s “source.” “Shia was warned about his behaviour by several people on set, including Brad Pitt and director David Ayer,” the MoS confided.

‘Shia was warned about his behaviour by several people on set, including Brad Pitt and director David Ayer,’ a source told the paper.

‘He didn’t heed any of their warnings and found himself staying in a small bed-and-breakfast hotel away from the rest of the cast.’

It’s the latest in a long line of LaBeouf-related issues. He was forced to apologize to screenwriter Daniel Clowes after plagiarizing much of the plot of his graphic novel Justin M. Damiano in his own short film, HowardCantour.com.
