Shia LaBeouf Arrested for Public Drunkenness in Texas
Shia LaBeouf, the frequently chastised actor, has once again drawn the ire of the law, this time in Austin, Texas. Austin police arrested LaBeouf for public drunkenness on Friday night. The arrest occurred on the first night of the second weekend of the Austin City Limits Music Festival, and it happened after LaBeouf and a buddy were denied entry to a pub, according to TMZ witness accounts.
According to authorities, the “Transformers” star was arrested just after 7:30 p.m. local time on Sixth Street, a renowned nightlife zone in downtown Austin.
“Due to pending adjudication, no further details will be released at this time,” the police statement read.
According to the TMZ website, officers overpowered him and placed him in handcuffs before detaining him.

KVUE, a local affiliate, reports that LaBeouf tried to cross against a “Don’t Walk” sign. A accusation of public drunkenness is a misdemeanor.
Witnesses told TMZ that he was acting ‘bizarrely,’ ignoring police warnings, and that he had been thrown out of a prominent 6th Street pub earlier that evening.
According to jail documents obtained by the Associated Press, he was arrested on Friday and spent the night in the Travis County Jail before being released.
It’s not the first time LaBeouf has run into legal problems; he was arrested last year after a performance of Cabaret on Broadway and pled guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct.
Following the event, a court ordered the actor to spend three months in treatment and exhibit six months of good behavior. The charges would be dismissed in exchange.
Last October, LaBeouf described prison as “really rough” in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on her talk program.
He claimed, “They put a Hannibal mask on me and a lead jacket and it was just really rough.”
He was arrested for a DUI in 2008, as well as trespassing at a Chicago Walgreens in 2007.
He’s also been accused of plagiarizing material.
“Obviously he gets arrested a lot, he came down here, he acted up and APD doesn’t put up with that. So he got what he got, you know?” Ben Blake, a bouncer at a downtown club who observed the arrest, told NBC station KXAN.
