Scarlett Johansson is a seasoned actress who has been in the industry for years.

However, her latest project, Asteroid City, was different from anything she had done before.

Not only had she just given birth to her son Cosmo eight weeks prior, but the COVID-19 pandemic had also made it difficult for her to work.

In an interview with PEOPLE in 10’s Mark Hone Love You, Scarlett Johansson opened up about the challenges she faced while filming Asteroid City.

“I hadn’t worked,” she recalled.

“Not just because I had a baby, but there was COVID.

I hadn’t shot anything in like three years or something like that.”

Despite the difficulties, Johansson had a strong support system.

She credited her Saturday Night Live star husband, Colin Jost, for making the transition back to work easier.

“He was able to come for like a week or something like that, which was also incredibly helpful, especially because you need someone to burp the baby in the middle of the night,” she revealed.

“It’s great when it’s your partner there to help you do it.”

Johansson and Jost welcomed their son Cosmo in August 2021.

The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in October 2020 after two years of dating.

During her appearance on Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop podcast, Johansson credited the secret behind their marriage as having a mutual understanding of what each other needs as a partner.

“I never realized, oh, it’s really important for me.

I need to be with a compassionate person.

That’s a fundamental characteristic that has to be there,” she said.

“It worked with Colin and I because I was finally able to step back and respect myself enough to know what those fundamental wants and needs were.”

Johansson also joked about Jost’s time on set.

While she was busy filming, Jost got to enjoy a surprise musical performance from Brazilian musical artist Su Jorge.
