Sarah Jessica Parker refuses to do this kind of sex scene

Sarah Jessica Parker, known for her role as a sex columnist, has a firm boundary in her acting projects regarding certain types of sex scenes.

The actress has been open about the challenging on-set experiences that led her to establish this limit.

Parker has consistently included a no-nudity clause in her contracts, which applies to both sexual and non-sexual onscreen nudity.

In a 2016 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Parker said, “I’ve always had one, and it’s apropos of absolutely nothing.”

“Some people have a perks list, and they are legendary. They have white candles in their room. I don’t have a crazy list like that. I’ve just always had a [a no-nudity clause].”

Although Parker’s stance against onscreen nudity is not a direct response to any specific event, she has mentioned a situation where she felt pressured to undress.

In a 2018 interview with People, Parker recounted an early film set experience where the filmmakers assumed she would be nude in a scene.

She said, “They were like, ‘Sarah Jessica’s going to be nude tomorrow,’ and I was like, ‘I’m not going to be nude.'”

Parker did not identify the director or film involved.

Parker recalled meeting someone from the same set who remembered her crying due to the pressure. To handle the situation, she eventually contacted her agent, Kevin Huvane.

He supported her decision, encouraging her to leave if her boundaries were not respected.

Parker told People, “My agent sent a car and plane ticket [to the film set] and he said, ‘If anybody makes you do anything that you’re not comfortable with doing, you don’t.’ Given what’s happening now and the stories told from the particular period, I know how lucky I am that there was someone—in this case, a man—who stepped in.”

Despite her own preferences, Parker holds no judgment against actors who choose to do nude scenes.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, she stated, “I don’t have any judgment about anyone who chooses to do it.”

“I think it’s fantastic that people feel comfortable doing it. It’s not some kind of principled position or religious or ideological on my part.”
