During a Glamour interview, Parker explained that painting Carrie’s nails would have been “futile because it would always be messed up.” She also stated that getting a manicure would have been an “obstacle on the speedy road toward thoughts being written.” It made sense for Carrie, who was busy with her career and love life, to skip the nail polish.
While Carrie’s n^ked nails were a practical decision, the other characters’ nail game wasn’t particularly strong either.
Of the foursome, only Samantha Jones and Charlotte York appeared to have regular manicures.
Samantha often went for bolder looks, while Charlotte preferred muted tones like light pinks and nudes.
Miranda Hobbes, much like Carrie, didn’t bother with her nails all that often.
When she did, she opted for n^de tones or clear polish.
In season 3 of s** and the City, Carrie and Charlotte got their nails done together, but the scene served more as a plot device than a fashion statement.
Charlotte used the opportunity to tell Carrie that she planned to keep her relationship with Trey MacDougal chaste until things got serious.
Meanwhile, Carrie briefly sported bright red polish while dating a politician.
As the new season of And Just Like That… continues, viewers will be keeping an eye out for any colorful polish on the characters’ nails.
The first two episodes were released on June 22, with a new episode available every Thursday through August.
