Sarah Jessica Parker cried while being forced to undress on set

Not every actor is at ease baring it all in front of a camera. Take for instance Sarah Jessica Parker, who has made sure she never has to remove her clothes on-screen. She learned her lesson when a filmmaker tried to persuade Parker to perform a bare scene in her earlier days.

In her three-decade acting career, which spans the new TV series Divorce and enduring films like Hocus Pocus, the actress has never exposed herself on camera.

As some of her followers are aware, Sarah Jessica Parker’s contract has always included a no-nudi+y clause. Parker claimed that her clause was the same as the demands of other celebrities in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“I’ve always had one, and it’s apropos of absolutely nothing,” Parker admitted. “Some people have a perks list and they are legendary. They have to have white candles in their room. I don’t have a crazy list like that. I’ve just always had [a no-nudi+y clause].”

Parker also said that she wasn’t against other actors showing off their bodies in movies. It’s simply something that’s not her preference.

“I don’t have any judgment about anyone who chooses to do it,” she continued. “I think it’s fantastic that people feel comfortable doing it. It’s not some kind of principled position or religious or ideological on my part.”

Fortunately, with a little assistance, Parker was able to stand by her principles during that scary firts time she was asked to take off everything.

“My agent [CAA’s Kevin Huvane] sent a car and a plane ticket [to the film set] and he said, ‘If anybody makes you do anything that you’re not comfortable doing, you don’t,’” she recalled. “Given what’s happening now and the stories told from that particular period, I know how lucky I am that there was someone — in this case, a man — who stepped in.”

The mother of three admitted to People magazine that she sometimes needed to protect her boundaries. She recounted a time when she was “sobbing” because someone had said, ‘They were like, ‘Sarah Jessica’s going to be n-k-d tomorrow,’ and I was like ‘I’m not going to be n-k-d.”

The actor explains that she simply never “dug” it personally, but she insisted that her decision to remain clothed does not prevent her from supporting women who do want to disrobe on camera.  “It’s not a value thing, or like I’m judging anyone else,” she emphasizes. “I think it’s great when women feel comfortable doing it, and that’s their choice,” she told the outlet.

In the past, Sarah Jessica Parker said to The Hollywood Reporter that she had second thoughts about agreeing to be in S.AT.C. Parker’s agent, Kevin Huvane, had to work hard to persuade her to join the cast of the show since she had some qualms about it.

“He called me up and said, ‘Darren Star reached out to me. He’s written this pilot [S.A.T.C] and tells me he wrote it with you in mind — you were in his head when he was writing it. I’m going to send it to you. I’ve read it. I think it’s really good. You should meet with him,’” she recalled.

But Parker felt she was fine where she was at the time. Parker wasn’t sure whether she wanted to give up the freedom she had by being bound by commitments.

“Do I really want to go back to making a television series when I’m maybe held hostage signing a long-term contract?”  Parker questioned.
