Sandra Bullock recently opened up about her experience filming intimate scenes with Ryan Reynolds for the 2009 romantic comedy movie, The Proposal.

Speaking on the About Last Night podcast, Bullock explained that the main reason she was comfortable filming intimate scenes with Reynolds was that she trusted him.

Bullock and Reynolds have been friends since they were young, which helped her feel more comfortable while filming intimate scenes with him.

“Ryan and I have known each other since we were prepubescent,” Bullock said in an interview with People. “We go way, way, way back.”

However, Bullock revealed that she had one condition before filming the infamous naked scene in The Proposal.

She wanted to be funny and awkward rather than sexy. “I will do this naked scene only if I can be humiliated and funny,” Bullock said.

“You will not see me trying to attempt being sexy naked—in real life or onscreen.

There’s just no point in it! It was for that reason, with a friend that you trusted comedically, and safety-wise, I knew I was in the presence of safety.”

Bullock also shared a hilarious behind-the-scenes story about filming the naked scene.

“Ryan and I have these flesh-colored things stuck to our privates, my hair is strategically over the nipples, and Ryan’s little—not little, at all!

It’s just whatever’s there, and I don’t know because I didn’t see it, I didn’t look!” she said.

During the filming of the scene, there were only a few people present to make it more comfortable for the actors.

However, the director called out to Reynolds, saying his private parts were visible, which made the situation even more awkward.

“I hear Anne Fletcher from the darkness go, ‘Ryan, we can see your ball sack!’ I’m like, ‘Oh God!’ because you wanna look down, but I’m like, ‘Don’t look down. Don’t look down.’ Everyone in the darkness spun around to see if they could find a monitor. I was like, ‘Anne, there’s a way to present that information…’”

Despite the awkwardness, Bullock said that she and Reynolds were not bothered by the incident. “In friendship, you just don’t care,” she said.

“It’ll just be a story one recalls and has a good laugh at.” Bullock also praised Reynolds for being “cool” about the situation.

The Proposal, directed by Anne Fletcher, follows the story of Margaret, a high-powered book editor played by Bullock, who faces deportation to Canada and persuades her assistant, Andrew, played by Reynolds, to marry her in order to stay in the United States.

The film was a box office success and received generally positive reviews.

Bullock has been in the movie industry for over three decades and has starred in numerous films, including Speed, Gravity, and Ocean’s 8.

Reynolds has also had a successful acting career, starring in films such as Deadpool, Free Guy, and 6 Underground.
