Republic Records President Accused of Sexual Misconduct
Charlie Walk, the President of Republic Records and a judge on Fox’s singing competition series “The Four,” has been accused of sexual misconduct by former record industry executive Tristan Coopersmith.
Coopersmith published an open letter on her website detailing the alleged inappropriate behavior, which occurred when Walk hired her to head a new department at an undisclosed record company when she was 27 years old.
In the letter, Coopersmith claimed that Walk made suggestive comments in private, touched her thigh under the table at business dinners, and sent her inappropriate instant messages.
She also alleged that Walk attempted to corner her in his bedroom while his wife was in the next room.
Coopersmith stated that she approached Walk’s counterpart at the company about the issue, and was paid to remain quiet in exchange for a “graceful exit.”

After Coopersmith’s letter was published, two more women came forward with allegations of sexual harassment against Walk.
One former Republic Records employee accused Walk of inviting her to hotel rooms, commenting inappropriately on her social media photos, and playing “mental games.”
After she was laid off, he allegedly twirled her around in front of another Republic executive and commented on her physical appearance.
Another woman accused Walk of repeatedly referencing her physical appearance and sending her an inappropriate text message.
Walk has denied the allegations, stating that this is the first time he has ever heard of any such claims and that there have been no HR complaints against him in his 25-year career.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Universal Music Group, which houses Republic Records, said that they take the allegations very seriously and will conduct a full and complete review of the matter.
Fox also released a statement, saying that they are reviewing the allegations and committed to fostering a safe environment on all of their shows.
Republic Records is a part of Universal Music Group and represents artists such as Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, and The Weeknd.
Coopersmith’s open letter was published one day after the Grammys, where the #MeToo movement was addressed and attendees were encouraged to wear white roses.
