Passengers Express Disapproval as Meghan Places Shoes on Plane Seat During Hong Kong Trip

Meghan Markle, formerly known as an actress in the hit TV show Suits, visited Hong Kong in 2012 as part of a press tour.

Arriving in style, she donned outfits designed by Zac Posen and Karl Ferdinand Franco.

Although her personal Instagram page and lifestyle blog, the Tig, no longer exist, screenshots from that time provide a glimpse into her pre-royal life.

One such screenshot shows a photo of Meghan on a flight to Hong Kong, shared by award-winning TV presenter and personality, Dom Lowe, who described her as his best interviewee in a Twitter post back in October 2013.

In the photo, Meghan can be seen posing with a book and a passport casually placed on top.

While most people would securely store their passport to prevent loss or theft, Meghan’s choice to display it in such a manner seems staged, signaling her status as an international traveler and jet setter.

However, this display of ostentation did not sit well with some fellow passengers who reportedly booed her for her behavior.

In certain cultures, particularly in Asia, placing one’s feet or shoes near books is considered bad luck or bad manners.

Books symbolize knowledge and power, and sharing photos of one’s feet is generally seen as impolite.

Placing her feet on the seat was seen as a lack of class and decorum.

A Reddit user commented, “She’s an influencer, guys.

Yep.

But if she doesn’t post a picture of her shoes next to a passport in sepia tones, then we know she’s traveling in style.”

This trend of showcasing shoes or hands alongside passports was popular in the 90s, but it fails to evoke any genuine emotions.

Meghan has shared several pictures of her shoes, similar to the one in question, leading some to question her creativity and originality as an influencer.

The photo unintentionally revealed more than just Meghan’s questionable choice in posing.

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed a book in the background, written by author Salman Rushdie.

While it may seem like Meghan is educating herself about royal history, the book’s content actually criticizes the monarchy.

Salman Rushdie has been known to make remarks elsewhere disapproving of the British monarchy, describing it as “stupid and archaic.”

Some speculate that Meghan may not have read the book at all, but rather used it as a prop to appear intellectual and make a statement.

Furthermore, Meghan’s research extended to Princess Diana and her now-husband, Prince Harry.

She delved into every interview and article, gaining insight into Harry’s paranoia towards the press.

During an interview with the BBC, Meghan claimed that she had limited knowledge of the royal family due to her American upbringing.

She admitted that her only concern before meeting Harry was whether he was a kind person, as she believed that kindness was crucial for any potential relationship.

The incident on the plane, with Meghan placing her shoes on the seat, sparked controversy and criticism.

It highlighted a clash between Meghan’s desire to showcase her glamorous lifestyle and the expectations of those around her.

While some saw it as a mere display of arrogance, others viewed it as a reflection of her lack of understanding and respect for cultural norms.

As Meghan continues her journey as a member of the British royal family, incidents like these serve as reminders that her actions are closely scrutinized and interpreted by the public.
