Joseph Brooks, a movie producer and songwriter who won an Academy Award in 1977 for his song “You Light Up My Life,” has been accused of luring 11 women to his Upper East Side apartment under the guise of offering them movie roles, only to then drug and s**ually assault them.

The District Attorney’s Office announced that Brooks surrendered himself on Tuesday and now faces eight counts of rape, eight counts of criminal s**ual assault, and other charges.

His personal assistant, Shawni Lucier, is also charged in the 91-count indictment.

According to the DA’s written statement, “Nine of the 11 victims responded to an ad on Craigslist.” Brooks, now 71, has been accused of playing up his Hollywood connections and bragging about his Oscar, offering to show it to the women at his apartment.

Prosecutors say that he met a victim in 2007 through “a posting on a talent Web site” and another victim in 2005 through an audition.

The women were either forcibly raped or incapacitated before the attacks.

Prosecutors claim that several victims believe their drinks were spiked with drugs.

The DA’s office added that “in many cases, the victims were forcibly raped.” Brooks reportedly flew ten of the women to New York for “auditions,” and they came from California, Florida, Oregon, and Washington state.

Shawni Lucier, Brooks’ personal assistant, has been charged with criminal facilitation.

Prosecutors allege that she knew Brooks was raping the aspiring models and actresses, and helped him solicit the women and arrange the meetings.

After turning himself in, Brooks was arraigned and pleaded not guilty.

He has been indicted on 91 counts, including eight counts of rape, eight counts of criminal s**ual assault, and a host of other charges.

Lucier has been indicted on several counts of criminal facilitation and s**ual assault.

Brooks’ Oscar-winning song, “You Light Up My Life,” reached No. 1 on the U.S.

pop charts and won him a Golden Globe Award and an American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers Award.

Brooks wrote, directed, and produced the film of the same name.

The accusations against Brooks have rocked Hollywood, where he had many connections.

In addition to his Oscar, he had worked on many other films, including “If Ever I See You Again,” “The Lords of Flatbush,” and “Looking for Mr.

Goodbar.” He also wrote a Broadway musical, “In My Life,” in 2005.

In the aftermath of the allegations, several of Brooks’ colleagues have expressed shock and dismay.

Brooks’ former publicist, Susan Blond, told reporters that she had “no idea” that Brooks was capable of such crimes.

She added that Brooks was always “extremely polite” and “charming” during their dealings.

The accusations against Brooks come at a time when the entertainment industry is under intense scrutiny for its treatment of women.

In recent months, a number of powerful men in Hollywood have been accused of s**ual harassment and assault, including Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Louis C.K.

The case against Brooks is being closely watched, and many are calling for swift justice for the alleged victims.

If convicted on all charges, Brooks could face a lengthy prison sentence.
