Accusations of sexual predation and harassment leveled against actor Noel Clarke by 20 women Renowned actor Noel Clarke, famous for his role in Brotherhood among other works, has been accused by 20 women of engaging in groping, bullying, and sexual harassment.

This news surfaced last night, only a few weeks after Clarke received a BAFTA for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema at the Royal Albert Hall on April 10th.

The Guardian discovered evidence that the BAFTA committee had been informed of multiple allegations against Clarke involving verbal abuse, bullying, and sexual harassment 13 days before presenting him with the award. This raises concerns about the appropriateness of honoring the actor.

BAFTA representatives have stated that while they were made aware of the allegations through emails, no concrete evidence was provided that would warrant an investigation into the claims.

Clarke has been informed of the accusations and has strongly denied any misconduct. In a statement, he said, “In a 20-year career, I have put inclusivity and diversity at the forefront of my work and never had a complaint made against me.”

“If anyone who has worked with me has ever felt uncomfortable or disrespected, I sincerely apologize. I vehemently deny any sexual misconduct or wrongdoing and intend to defend myself against these false allegations.”

Gina Powell, who collaborated with Clarke as a producer between September 2014 and March 2017, is among the 20 women who have come forward.

Powell claims that Clarke bragged to her about covertly recording naked auditions and keeping the footage.

Additional allegations include instances of groping and manipulation, with Clarke purportedly remarking that his goal concerning Powell was “to fuck her and fire her.”

In light of the detailed allegations published in The Guardian, the BAFTA committee has responded, “We will continue to review this matter, and should any allegations be substantiated, we will take appropriate action.”
