Nicki Minaj’s brother gets 25 years for raping his stepdaughter
On Monday, Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj, was sentenced to 25 years to life for repeatedly raping his then 11-year-old stepdaughter.
Nassau County Supreme Court Judge Robert McDonald condemned Maraj for s**ually abusing the girl and said that he had “ruined this child.”
The judge also stated that Maraj had raped the girl over and over again.
Maraj appeared emotionless as he was handed his sentence, following his conviction for predatory s**ual assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
This sentencing comes two years after a jury found him guilty of the s**ual abuse, which began in 2015.

The victim’s brother witnessed Maraj assaulting his sister and later notified school officials.
However, Nicki Minaj did not appear in court to support her older sibling on Monday.
Maraj’s lawyer, David Schwartz, read out a letter that Minaj wrote in 2016 in an attempt to get her brother a lighter sentence.
In the letter, Minaj referred to Maraj as the “most patient, gentle, genuine, giving selfless man I know.”
During his sentencing, Maraj pleaded for mercy and apologized for the pain that he caused.
He maintained his innocence of the charges but acknowledged having an excessive drinking problem.
Maraj said that he was “just asking for mercy from the court.”
Before he was sentenced, the victim, who is now his former stepdaughter, bravely spoke out in court about how the abuse led her to become suicidal.
She stated that she felt like she had no voice and could not make it through the day without an anxiety attack.
She previously testified at Maraj’s 2017 trial that he repeatedly raped her in the family’s Baldwin home while he was married to her mother.
Maraj denied the allegations, claiming that the story was concocted to extort his famous sister.
After the sentencing, Schwartz said that Maraj plans to appeal.
An earlier attempt to overturn the case was thrown out.
It is important to note that s**ual assault is a serious crime that should never be taken lightly.
The sentencing of Jelani Maraj serves as a reminder that perpetrators of such heinous acts will be held accountable for their actions.
It is also essential to listen to and believe survivors of s**ual assault, as their voices deserve to be heard and their pain acknowledged.
