Nicki Minaj slammed for supporting a convicted rapist

Nicki Minaj is facing criticism for her associations with sexual offenders, specifically three individuals.

The most recent of which is her own brother, Jelani Maraj, who was convicted of predatory sexual assault on a child and endangering the welfare of a child.

There are rumors that Minaj helped post her brother’s bail and that some of her properties were used as collateral. This has caused some of her fans to question her judgment.

The relationship between Minaj and Maraj appeared to be close prior to the allegations.

In 2015, Minaj attended Maraj’s wedding and posted a photo on Instagram expressing her joy.

However, when Maraj was found guilty and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, Minaj distanced herself from her brother. The case against Maraj was strengthened by DNA evidence.

Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, also has a criminal past. In 1995, he was convicted of attempted first-degree rape and served four years in jail.

In 2006, he served another seven years for first-degree manslaughter. Despite his record, Minaj chose to marry him and even defended him in an Instagram post.

The third individual is rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine who was convicted of “use of a child in a sexual performance.” Despite this conviction, Minaj collaborated with him on a song.

These associations have caused some fans to voice their concerns on social media platforms like Reddit and Twitter.

One Twitter user posted: “Nicki Minaj: the first female artist to have a rapist friend, a rapist brother and a rapist husband! Congratulations to the queen of Rap-ists!”

Another wrote: “Something ain’t right…” and one summed up the three cases, saying: “I’m literally so fucking exhausted of seeing nasty ass women defend Nicki Minaj…”

It seems that the #MeToo movement still has a long way to go in terms of holding individuals accountable for their actions and those who sympathize with them.

Minaj’s associations with these convicted sexual offenders have caused some fans to question her judgment and has sparked a wider discussion about holding people accountable for their actions.
