Nicki Minaj believes that hindsight is 20/20, particularly when it comes to cosmetic surgery. During a recent interview with Joe Budden, the rapper discussed a moment when her booty was boosted with “shots.” According to Nicki, Lil Wayne was the mastermind behind the entire operation.

She described the decision as “insane” during the conversation.

“All I would hear them talking about is big butts and I didn’t feel complete or good enough—good as those girls because I’m like, ‘Oh my god, this is what you’re supposed to look like in the rap culture,’ and I don’t look like that”

“I was in Atlanta at the time and… I kept on being around Lil Wayne and them. At that time Wayne, he talking about big booties. Wayne would have a new chick in the studio every session so it was always a new big booty there. They were his muses,” she told the former rapper who is now a podcast presenter.

Minaj claimed she was never directly told to enhance her butt, but she did have to put up with friendly teasing as the “little sister” of YMCMB, the rap group affiliated with Lil Wayne’s record label Young Money Entertainment.

“I think they said stuff sometimes jokingly. But to a young girl or up-and-coming rapper … when it’s from someone like Lil Wayne it matters. So even if they’re joking they don’t know that the person … is not finding it funny”.

She explained that they were probably unaware of her insecurity at the time, adding:

“A lot of times, you don’t know how insecure a person is or what their insecurities are. So when you say certain things, around women especially, you can never take them back,” Minaj said.

“So where they might have been playing with me probably thinking ‘she’s confident, she’s good in her own skin,’ they don’t know that I always had that insecurity,” she said.

“They’re just joking. They didn’t mean any harm. But it wasn’t a joke to me,” the rapper added.

When asked whether she considers herself responsible for the butt-augmentation craze, the mother of one confessed that she did.

“I was one of the first people saying ‘oh I’m not these people’s parents,’ but now I get it. I look at it from a different perspective now. Because superstars inadvertently become role models no matter what,” Minaj said.

The pop sensation also discussed her relationship with Kanye West and her feelings regarding his decision to chop her hair short. During their tenure in the music business, the two became close. She has spoken up about her experiences in the fashion world since then. At the start of her career, the teenage singer was accused of getting butt injections. She had refuted the charges since then.
