Natalie Portman Recalls ‘Awkward’ Sex Scene in ‘Black Swan’ with Mila Kunis

The movie world is buzzing about Darren Aronofsky’s highly anticipated “Black Swan,” which is slated to enter theaters on Friday. The ballet film starring Natalie Portman as Nina Sayers promises to be both shockingly dark and wonderfully beautiful as the prime ballerina competes for the coveted lead part in “Swan Lake.” When a new dancer, Lily (Mila Kunis), competes for the top slot, Portman’s character is dragged into a psychological battle loaded with sexual overtones, including the much-discussed love scene between Portman and Kunis.

The dancers’ battle of wills appears to be merciless, as do their subsequent sexual experiences, based on what we’ve seen. It’s difficult to imagine that Portman and Kunis are real-life pals. When MTV News spoke with the lead actress lately, she talked about how tough it was to shoot such challenging sequences with someone she knew so well.

Portman was eager to compliment her friend for her performance as the villain, adding that it was her proposal to Aronofsky that led to Kunis being hired in the role. “It was crazy,” she remarked, “because Mila and I were very good friends. And when Darren asked me, ‘Who do you think could do this part? Who has sort of a similar height, coloring, physique?’ I was like, ‘Oh, Mila, Mila, Mila!’ He met her and obviously flipped over her, and she’s super talented and does an amazing job in the movie.” However, Portman only grasped what the combination would mean later on. She stated, “I didn’t really think through the fact that I was going to have to have sex with her in the movie.”

The actress admitted that working on those scenes was a little unsettling, but that having Kunis there was also a great experience. “It was pretty awkward. I almost feel like it would be easier to do it with someone you didn’t know,” she said. “But, having said that, it was great to have a friend there who, we could laugh and make jokes and get over it together.”

Natalie Portman dislikes rehearsing for her role in Thor: Love and Thunder.

On Oct. 20, the actress appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and discussed the upcoming project, which will be shot in Sydney, Australia. The Mighty Thor, a popular comic book, will be the inspiration for the film.

Fallon mentioned that superhero movies need a lot of preparation and fitness, something Portman admitted she was dreading.

“I’m trying. I’ve also had months of like pandemic, you know, eating baked goods and lying in bed and feeling sorry for myself,” she revealed. “So I’m like super tired after working out, and during and dreading before.”

The Oscar-winning actress will  be the first woman to play Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The film is set to be released on February 11, 2022, although nothing is set in stone owing to COVID-19.

Indeed, the mother of two had her hands full during quarantine. While at home with her children and husband, Benjamin Millepied, the Black Swan actress started a vegan cooking show in which she cooks with and interviews celebrity chefs, started a book club in which she interviews authors, and helped bring a professional women’s soccer team to Los Angeles.

“A group of us became really passionate about women’s soccer because we have the best players in the world in the United States in the most popular sport in the world,” she stated.

She continued, “So we got together and we are bringing Angel City FC, the women’s soccer team for Los Angeles to L.A. in 2022. And we are super excited to just kind of celebrate these incredible athletes. And yes, it’s the first female led, female investors I think any professional sport.”

Portman previously stated in an interview that her Thor is not known as ‘Lady Thor,’ but rather as ‘The Mighty Thor.’

“She’s actually The Mighty Thor,” the actress told Serena Williams in an Instagram Live session.

“The comics had the female Thor when Jane becomes Thor, and she’s The Mighty Thor,” she added.

Thor: Love And Thunder will see Portman’s character, astrophysicist Jane Foster, take up the mantle of Thor after transforming into a female version of the Norse god.
