Monica Bellucci is Guest Starring on ‘Mozart in the Jungle’ Season 3
2016/06/03
Amazon announced on Friday that Monica Bellucci would appear as a guest star in Season 3 of “Mozart in the Jungle.”
Alessandra, a legendary opera performer who will become Rodrigo’s (Gael Garcia Bernal) next great partner, will be played by the Italian actress. Alessandra is known for both her impassioned performances and her chaotic off-stage life. She enlists Rodrigo to conduct her great comeback performance after years away from the spotlight.
The series, which stars Garcia Bernal and Lola Kirke and is based on Blaire Tindall’s biography Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs, and Classical Music, pulls back the curtain at the New York Symphony, where artistic passion and inventiveness meet with mind games, politicking, and survival instincts. Season 3 will continue the narrative of the gifted musicians who perform and live with passion under the direction of Rodrigo, the show’s energetic conductor, and will see many of the musicians take their skills to Europe. The film stars Saffron Burrows, Malcolm McDowell, and Bernadette Peters.
“Alessandra is as famous for her passionate performances as she is for her erratic life off the stage,” is how the statement described her character in the show. “After years away from the spotlight, she enlists Rodrigo to conduct her grand return performance.”
The series, which was renewed for a third season in February, just received two Golden Globe Awards, one for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy, and the other for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical, both for series star Gael Garcia Bernal.
