Miley Cyrus alleges she was fired from Hotel Transylvania after posing with a penis-shaped cake she bought for her then-boyfriend Liam Hemsworth’s birthday.

The 26-year-old singer addressed her recent divorce with Hemsworth, as well as other scandals, in a Twitter thread that has been retweeted thousands of times.

“I fucked up and cheated in relationships when I was young,” she wrote. “I lost a massive Walmart deal at 17 for ripping a bong.” These we knew about. But then, a surprise: “I got kicked off hotel Transylvania for buying Liam a penis cake for his birthday and licking it,” she wrote.

Miley Cyrus was fired, according to a Sony insider, because she snapped images of herself licking the cake and uploaded them online. Following the release of the images, the studio became increasingly concerned about Miley’s participation in a family film. Cyrus had walked away from the project to sort out her career after leaving Disney, according to the press at the time.

As Dracula’s daughter, Cyrus was replaced by Selena Gomez, who went on to voice the character Mavis in three films.

The film, which was released in 2012, follows Count Dracula as he runs a hotel where the world’s monsters can escape human society for a while. The film was a huge box office success, resulting in two official sequels in 2015 and 2018.

Cyrus, 26, revealed her split with Hemsworth, her co-star in the 2010 film The Last Song, earlier this month.

While I’m sure Sandler, Andy Samberg, Fran Drescher, and Steve Buscemi would have enjoyed the penis cake, I can understand how it would annoy studio executives trying to make the picture family-friendly.

Hotel Transylvania became a successful family picture franchise, grossing more than $1 billion worldwide (unadjusted) over the course of three films.

The release date for the fourth Hotel Transylvania film has been set for December 22, 2021.

Cyrus may have missed out on Hotel Transylvania, but she has had a successful career so far. Since then, she’s starred on The Voice as a judge and in films including So Undercover and A Very Murray Christmas. More recently, she featured in an episode of the Netflix series Black Mirror.
