Miley Cyrus shades ex-husband Liam Hemsworth in new song
Miley Cyrus has released a new single called “Flowers” and fans are convinced that the song and accompanying music video are full of references to her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth.
The couple, who were together on and off for over a decade, married in 2018 and divorced a year later.
Fans of Cyrus believe that the release date of the single, January 13th, 2023, which also happens to be Hemsworth’s 33rd birthday, is no coincidence.
The lyrics of the song include lines such as “I can love me better than you can” and “Paint my nails cherry-red, match the roses that you left, no remorse, no regret, I forget every word you said.”
Fans believe these lyrics are directed at Hemsworth.

One of the key “clues” that fans have picked up on is the release date. Cyrus chose to release her comeback single on Hemsworth’s birthday, which many believe is no coincidence.
One fan even joked, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIAM HEMSWORTH” as the single was released.
Another clue that fans have picked up on is a reference to a Bruno Mars song. Fans believe that the song’s self-love themed title and chorus is a reference to Mars’s single “When I Was Your Man”, which Hemsworth is rumored to have dedicated to Cyrus while they were together.
The lyrics of the song also seem to reference the house the couple shared together in Malibu, which burnt down in the California wildfires in 2018.
In the lyrics, Cyrus sings “built a home and watched it burn.” In the music video, Cyrus appears in a different property, which some publications have reported as being the Studio City home she purchased in 2011, perhaps asserting the song’s theme of independence.
In the music video, Cyrus can be seen dancing and exercising around the luxurious LA home in black lace underwear, gymwear and a black suit.
Fans believe that the black suit she wears in the video is similar to the one Hemsworth wore in an awkward moment for the couple.
In a red carpet appearance while the couple were together, Hemsworth is believed to have said “could you behave, for once?” to Cyrus when she pretended to lick him at an Avengers movie premiere.
Cyrus then pushed Hemsworth away and proceeded to have photos taken on her own.
Now, fans believe Cyrus is dancing around in the new video wearing Hemsworth’s suit from that night.
