Meghan Markle’s New Netflix Show Set to Begin Filming Amid Controversy

Filming for Meghan Markle’s much-anticipated Netflix series is just hours away from kicking off, but the location may raise a few eyebrows.

According to Richard Eden, the royal editor at the Daily Mail, the Duchess of Sussex won’t be shooting in her lavish Montecito mansion.

Instead, production will take place at a nearby rented property in the upscale Californian neighborhood.

Markle’s first solo series is set to begin on Tuesday, April 16.

While details remain scarce, sources have revealed that Netflix has secured a house in Montecito specifically for the filming.

This new project is closely linked to Meghan’s lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard (ARO), which she launched on Instagram earlier this year.

The brand has already garnered an impressive following of over 590,000 users.

Trademark applications suggest that ARO will feature a variety of trendy cookware and fashionable food products, including fruit butters and spreads made from legumes, along with cookbooks authored by Meghan herself.

This series is one of two new television ventures that Meghan and Prince Harry are developing for Netflix.

The show aims to celebrate themes like cooking, gardening, entertainment, and friendship, as stated by the streaming platform.

Interestingly, Meghan’s choice to film at a different residence has left many wondering about the Sussexes’ living situation.

Despite their reported ownership of the stunning Spanish revival-style mansion, which boasts nine bedrooms and 19 bathrooms, some speculate that they don’t actually live there.

Critics have taken to social media to express their disbelief, claiming the couple merely rents their home and questioning the authenticity of their luxurious image.

One fan expressed skepticism, suggesting that the Sussexes have never truly owned their mansion, labeling it all as a facade.

Another chimed in with rumors that they might have sold the property due to financial constraints.

Observers have noted that the home doesn’t present the opulence typically associated with celebrity lifestyles, leading to speculation about Prince Harry’s nostalgia for the grandeur of royal life.

It’s worth noting that most celebrities often film content within their own homes, creating a relatable atmosphere for viewers.

Icons like Martha Stewart and Joanna Gaines have embraced this approach, showcasing their lives, children, and even pets on screen.

However, Meghan’s kitchen appears devoid of any signs of family life, raising further questions about her portrayal in the upcoming series.

In a recent discussion on Talk TV, Meghan candidly acknowledged concerns about the show’s potential viewership.

She remarked, “I actually think that no one’s going to watch them,” referencing the skepticism surrounding her new endeavor.

This admission has sparked debate about the authenticity of her attempts to connect with audiences.

Production for Meghan’s show is being handled by Sony Pictures Television, which is known for its work on popular programs like Hulu’s “The D’Amalio Show” and A&E’s “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.”

Meghan is set to take on the role of executive producer for Archewell, alongside Chanel’s Cynic, who heads the company’s non-fiction division.

As the countdown to filming begins, Meghan’s new project stands at a crossroads—caught between public intrigue and criticism.

Will this series resonate with audiences, or will it fall flat?
