Meghan and Harry’s Archetypes Trademark Rejected by U.S. Officials

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been dealt another blow as their filing to trademark the podcast title, Archetypes, has been rejected by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

This comes just days after Spotify announced their split with the couple.

The royals aimed to get exclusive use of the term for downloadable audio recordings and podcasts related to the cultural treatment of women and stereotypes facing women.

However, their application was turned down due to the likelihood of confusion with an existing brand of the same name.

Archetypes LLC, an Arizona-based company, applied for exclusive use of the term in 2015 for books and articles about nutrition, fitness, sexuality, and psychological self-improvement.

The royals’ lawyer, Marjorie Witter-Norman of L.A. firm Wilkie, Fargallagher, has appealed the decision and applied for an extra three months to prepare another application.

It has been revealed that both Meghan and Harry failed to sign their own application to the regulatory body, which could have contributed to the rejection.

While the Sussexes should count their lucky stars, they’ve only been turned down for a trademark.

Archetypes LLC could try to sue them for infringement, and they definitely have a case against them for diminishing their brand with their unpopularity.

Harry’s ideas for podcasts, if true, are considered insane, though original.

With the rejection of their trademark application, Harry now has time to listen to Archetypes LLC’s output on psychological self-improvement.

Meghan made the same mistake last year when she applied to reactivate the TIG trademark, the name she favored for the lifestyle blog she wrote before marrying Harry.

The trademark rejection comes in the wake of Spotify and the royals announcing they would part ways, revealing the podcast that premiered in August 2022 will not be renewed for season 2.

The couple has faced daily humiliations, and many believe they should not profit from all their lying and for throwing their families under the bus.

No company or corporation should associate their name with this either because they will be boycotted.

Season 1 of the podcast was launched in August 2022 and is available on Spotify.

One of the episodes features Serena Williams, while Issa Rae and Ziwe were also invited to discuss how the angry black woman trope is usually illustrated in the media.

Mariah Carey and Mindy Kaling featured as guest appearances on the podcast.

The Duchess of Sussex engaged in intimate conversations revolving around gender-specific labels and stereotypes, something which she highly resonated with.

Being mixed race has not been easy for the Duchess.

The description of the podcast reads, “In this groundbreaking new podcast, Archetypes, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, investigates the labels that try to hold women back.

Meghan will speak with historians and experts to uncover the origin of these stereotypes and have uncensored conversations with women who know all too well how these typecasts shape our narratives.”
