She said that their nanny would bring Elizabeth and her sister into the store and all the ‘regular’ staff would have to turn their backs and make sure they did not make eye contact with them. This was a sign of respect. Only the senior staff would have any contact with the royals. Not have contact with the public when on personal errands does not seem to be a new thing.
