Masturbation seminar made Cara Delevingne realise she’s prude

Model and actress Cara Delevingne has revealed that she discovered she is more prudish than she thought while filming her new documentary series, “Planet Sex.”

The series, which explores Delevingne’s own sexuality and has been sold to 92 markets worldwide, features a masturbation seminar that made Delevingne uncomfortable.

Speaking at Mipcom in Cannes, Delevingne described the seminar as being held on a pink, leather gym mat with six people encouraging her to take off her underwear and use lubricant.

“I went into the masturbation seminar thinking it was going to be a classroom and I’d have a notepad, and instead it was a pink, leather gym mat on the floor, with six people going, ‘Well, take your underwear off. This is the lube.’ I didn’t realize I was a prude,” Delevingne said.

Despite the unexpected nature of the activities, Delevingne says she had no reservations about the topics covered in the series and enjoyed the opportunity to explore her own sexuality and learn more about the topic.

“I was more like, ‘What are we doing today?’ Because every day was completely different. I’m used to being a chameleon but this was absurd,” Delevingne said.

Fremantle CEO Simon Andreae, who is involved with the production of “Planet Sex,” provided further details about the series.

Each episode will see Delevingne “explore one of those big questions [about sexuality], ask it at the top, go on a voyage of discovery through laboratories, different cultures, different individuals, her own mind and body and come out the other end with a conclusion,” Andreae said.

According to Andreae, the series aims to avoid “the sort of classic Hollywood fence-sitting because you don’t want to offend anyone” and arrive at a genuine conclusion, that “sexual orientation is finished by the time you’re born.”

Andreae also confirmed that the BBC edit of the show would be more explicit than that shown on Hulu, saying, “There’s one further layer and section of information underneath the science a little more often, but this is the BBC and they have gone for the more – I’m not sure ‘hardcore’ is the right word – but a more explicit version of the show.”

Delevingne, who also served as an executive producer on the series, commented on the impact the show had on her personally.

“I feel like I needed this in my life, honestly. Maybe not to do it on camera – I mean, that was something I wanted to do for other people – but in terms of, for me, I grew up a lot,” Delevingne said.

“I had chosen to take a step back from love and relationships for a while before I did this and this made me realize again how much I needed to repair certain things in my life and move on from that. I really grew up a lot.”
