Marilyn Monroe died poor and almost penniless

Marilyn Monroe’s life and death will be the subject of the upcoming Netflix film “Blonde,” directed by Andrew Dominik and based on Joyce Carol Oates’ book of the same name.

The NC-17-rated movie will focus on how the actress lost her identity and became the iconic “blonde bombshell,” eventually dying almost penniless at 36.

Speaking at the Neuchâtel Intl. Fantastic Film Festival in Switzerland, Oates stated that fame was not an identity that Monroe could live with.

“She gained a fame in the world, but that’s not an identity you can live with… When she died, at 36, she didn’t own enough money for a proper funeral,” Oates said.

According to Oates, Monroe was still being given roles meant for young actresses when she was approaching 40, and she felt humiliated.

“Some people say she committed suicide. I don’t necessarily think that. I think she may have died of something like extreme despair,” Oates added.

The film, set to release on September 23, stars Ana de Armas as Monroe.

Oates praised Dominik’s direction, stating that he succeeded in portraying Monroe’s experience from her perspective.

The Cuban actress underwent a lengthy transformation to become the iconic s^x symbol for the movie.

It took about four hours to put on the make-up required for each scene, according to Oates.

“Blonde” drew controversy when it was revealed that it would be rated NC-17 instead of rated R. Dominik defended his decision, saying, “It’s an NC-17 movie about Marilyn Monroe.

“It’s kind of what you want, right? I want to go and see the NC-17 version of the Marilyn Monroe story.” The director also confirmed that a rape scene with a studio executive would be shown on screen.

“If the audience doesn’t like it, that’s the f–king audience’s problem. It’s not running for public office,” Dominik added.

Monroe’s story has been the subject of multiple biopics, including “My Week with Marilyn” (2011) and “Norma Jean & Marilyn” (1996).

The actress remains an iconic figure, known for her beauty, talent, and tragic end.

Monroe’s death in 1962 was caused by an overdose of barbiturates.

Although it was ruled as a suicide, there have been several conspiracy theories surrounding the circumstances of her death.

Monroe began her career as a model, eventually transitioning to acting.

She starred in several successful films, including “Some Like It Hot,” “The Seven Year Itch,” and “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.” She was also a singer and a s^x symbol, known for her breathy voice, platinum blonde hair, and hourglass figure.

Monroe’s personal life was also widely publicized, including her marriages to baseball player Joe DiMaggio and playwright Arthur Miller.

She also had affairs with several high-profile men, including President John F. Kennedy and his brother Robert Kennedy.

Monroe was known to struggle with mental health issues, including depression and anxiety.

She spent time in psychiatric hospitals and received treatment from multiple doctors.

Monroe remains a cultural icon, with many people still captivated by her life and legacy.

Her image has been used in advertising and art, and she is often referenced in popular culture.
