Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson Steals the Show at Garter Day

The annual Garter Day tradition took place at Windsor Castle on Monday, marking the first under the reign of King Charles III.

The day began with the sovereign family investing new companions with the orders insignia in the throne room of the castle, followed by a lunch hosted by the sovereign and a procession on foot to a service at St. George’s Chapel.

This year’s event was also significant as it was the first with Camilla as Queen Consort and Prince William in his new title as the Prince of Wales.

Kate Middleton was in attendance, wearing a long-sleeved white dress with black polka dots by Alessandra Rich paired with a coordinating hat by Philip Tracy.

Royal watchers noted that Garter Day is a significant event in the William and Kate story, as her appearance at the 2008 event when he received his Order of the Garter knighthood made it clear that the couple were serious.

They were engaged a little over two years later.

However, the big news of the day was the replacement of Prince Harry’s position by Thomas Thompson on the Royal website for Garter Day.

While Prince Harry is not a member of the Order of the Garter and has not attended the procession in years, Thompson is said to be the most suitable person to replace him.

Royal fans were excited to see Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson, HM King Charles III’s equerry, and Rob Dixon, TRH the Prince and Princess of Wales equerry, appear in the procession to St. George’s Chapel on Garter Day.

Thompson has gained an army of fans, with many saying he distracts them from the King because of his looks.

The royal equerry has earned a reputation as the most handsome member of the royal family’s team.

He was splattered following Charles as he made a surprise appearance on walkabout along the wall.

A clip posted to TikTok shows one superfan ignoring Charles as he shakes hands, insisting on zooming in on Lieutenant Colonel Thompson.

The video was captioned “while everyone is meeting the King, I’m busy looking at Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson.”

Viewers rushed to the comments to flood him with compliments.

One person wrote, “I could camp out at the mall in the rain without a tent for three days for a glimpse of this man.”

A second joked, “He is so handsome I didn’t even notice Charles was in the video.”

Thompson of the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland is King Charles III’s bodyguard and royal equerry.

Before taking up the role of King Charles III’s bodyguard and royal equerry, he was Queen Elizabeth’s most senior bodyguard.

He is now responsible for the detailed planning and execution of the King’s daily programs, which requires him to attend public events and be in close contact with the monarch.

Overall, Garter Day was a significant event, marking the first under the reign of King Charles III and the first with Camilla as Queen Consort and Prince William as the Prince of Wales.

While the replacement of Prince Harry’s position by Thomas Thompson on the Royal website caused a stir, it was Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson who stole the show, with his handsome looks and army of fans.
