Pop star Katy Perry had an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction while performing at Radio 1’s Big Weekend festival in Hull.

During her energetic performance, a dance move caused her to reveal more than she had intended, giving the audience an eyeful of her large white underwear.

Perry was wearing a silver sequined minidress and a matching blazer, along with white sneakers and long, dangling earrings.

The 32-year-old singer has had a busy week, having also performed at London’s Water Rats in front of a small crowd of 90 people on Thursday night.

Perry reminisced about her debut performance in the UK at the same venue nine years ago and spoke about her growing audience.

She said, “If you’re not having great sex yet, in your thirties it’s going to be AMAZING. I can’t speak for those of you in your forties, but I’m sure it’s better… it’s fun, consensual and intimate.”

Perry’s recent single, Bon Appétit, contains suggestive lyrics and the singer confirmed the meaning behind the song during her performance.

She said, “That’s what Bon Appétit is about, loving that beautiful thing. Just accepting it, now it’s so much fun. I used to be able not to hug people, it was really sad. Now I just want to hug everyone.”

The singer, who split from actor Orlando Bloom in March after dating him for almost a year, also revealed that she has been sober since January.

Earlier in the night, she poured pints for new Capital breakfast show host Roman Kemp as she celebrated his new role at the radio station.

During the performance, Perry also addressed her feud with Taylor Swift, which her new single Swish Swish is said to be about.

She said, “Honestly, she started it and it’s time for her to finish it. I’m ready for that BS to be done.”

Perry’s new album, Witness, is due to be released on June 9th.

The singer has previously been married to comedian Russell Brand and dated musician John Mayer.

Perry’s wardrobe malfunction made headlines across a number of media outlets, with many focusing on her choice of underwear.

The Mirror reported that the singer “flashed huge pants” and the Sun described the moment as an “awkward wardrobe malfunction”.

Despite the embarrassment, Perry’s performance at Radio 1’s Big Weekend was well-received by the crowd.

The Hull Daily Mail reported that Perry “owned the stage”, while the BBC praised her for her “uplifting and energetic” performance.

Perry’s performance was part of a star-studded lineup at Radio 1’s Big Weekend festival, which also featured acts such as Kings of Leon, Stormzy and Lorde.

The festival, which took place on May 27th and 28th, was held at Burton Constable Hall and attracted tens of thousands of music fans.

Perry’s setlist included hits such as Roar, Firework and California Gurls, as well as tracks from her forthcoming album.

The singer performed alongside a group of dancers and a backing band, with elaborate stage props and lighting adding to the spectacle.

The singer’s wardrobe malfunction is not the first to occur during a live performance.
