On Thursday afternoon (August 6) in Brooklyn, New York, Katie Holmes seemed untidy and had several missing teeth while filming sequences for her new film All We Had.

And, while it may not be the most glamorous role, she seemed to be enjoying herself.

The actress has had a number of changes recently, including a dental makeover.

For the new film, Holmes, who is the mother of 9-year-old daughter Suri Cruise, cut her hair into a bob. Holmes plays a mother on the verge of destitution when she and her 13-year-old daughter are evicted from their California home.

Katie’s pal, artist JR, was on site documenting the first day of filming and took a wonderful photograph of Katie peeping through a window.

He captioned the shot, “Day 1 on set … @katieholmes212 directing her first feature Film #NewYork.”

The brunette was make-up-free as she flaunted her new shoulder-length brown tresses, which she had trimmed for the job, while wearing flared jeans, a plaid shirt, and minimum make-up.

The film is based on artist and painter Annie Weatherwax’s novel of the same name.

After joining the cast of Ray Donavon, Katie became the latest Hollywood actress to make the transition from film to television.

The actress joined the cast for the third season to portray wealthy Paige Finney, a character who has received mixed responses from viewers. During a July visit on Good Morning America, the actress stated that Paige was a difficult character to play.

“Paige is very complicated and you haven’t seen it yet, but she’s very strong and very tough but she’s also very vulnerable. So the braces to us was a metaphor,” she explained.
