Kate Winslet put on bra before fleeing Branson fire

Actress Kate Winslet has revealed that she put on a bra before fleeing the fire at Richard Branson’s Necker Island home in August.

Winslet was one of 20 guests staying in the $70 million Caribbean property when it was struck by lightning and caught fire.

Speaking on “The Graham Norton Show”, she explained how, during moments of crisis, people do strange things, commenting, “[It] was like a movie…I started to put on a bra and thought ‘that’s going to take too long’ so off came the bra on came the T-shirt.” She then helped to rescue Branson’s elderly mother and her own children.

Branson himself had earlier recounted how Winslet had picked up his mother and carried her out of the house.

He said he had been woken up by people screaming, and had run n^ked from the house next door.

Winslet and other guests had made it safely down some slippery stone steps.

All the guests were eventually rescued by boat.

The fire caused significant damage to the Great House on Necker Island, which is part of the British Virgin Islands.

However, it is reported that Branson will rebuild the property as soon as possible.

He has promised that the new building will be “even more special” and environmentally friendly.

Necker Island is an exclusive retreat for celebrities, politicians and business leaders.

It is owned by Branson and is part of his Virgin Limited Edition portfolio.

During the summer, rooms can be rented for $52,000 per night.

The island was first purchased by Branson in the late 1970s.

The fire is thought to have cost Branson around $100m.

However, the businessman has denied reports that he was not fully insured.

He said that while some items were not covered, he had no plans to claim for any uninsured losses.

He added that the incident had not affected the Virgin Group’s business or finances.

Branson is known for his philanthropic work, and has reportedly donated millions of dollars to charity over the years.

He has also signed up to The Giving Pledge, a campaign initiated by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, which encourages wealthy individuals to donate at least half their fortunes to charity.

Branson has said that he will leave the majority of his wealth to charitable causes in his will.

In addition to the Great House, Necker Island has several other buildings and facilities, including a spa, tennis courts and a private beach.

Visitors can also enjoy water sports, including kite-surfing and windsurfing.

The island sits on the boundary of the North Atlantic and Caribbean Sea, and can only be accessed by boat or helicopter.

It has a tropical climate, with temperatures averaging around 30°C throughout the year.

Despite the fire, Necker Island remains a popular destination for the rich and famous.

Celebrities who have stayed there include Oprah Winfrey, Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg.

In 2011, Princess Beatrice was heavily criticised after attending a party there with her then-boyfriend, Dave Clark.

It was reported that Clark had flown a group of friends to the island on a private jet, at a cost of £100,000.

The Great House on Necker Island has been described as “one of the most exclusive private houses in the world”.

It has nine bedrooms, each with its own balcony, and a master suite, which includes an outdoor Jacuzzi.

There is also a large terrace, a pool and a swim-up bar.
