Kate Beckinsale reveals years of torture & malice by Harvey Weinstein

Kate Beckinsale has revealed that she was subjected to psychological torture and bullying by disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein during the promotion of their 2001 romantic film Serendipity.

In an interview with Vulture, Beckinsale spoke out about the experience, saying that while she was never sexually attacked by Weinstein, she endured intense bullying from him.

She added that the kind of bullying she experienced is not illegal, but is “incredibly oppressive and worth addressing.”

Weinstein was one of the biggest names in Hollywood before the #MeToo movement emerged in 2017.

Multiple women, including high-profile actresses, came forward with allegations of sexual harassment, assault, and rape against the producer.

Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for rape and sexual assault.

In March, Beckinsale opened up about her experiences with Weinstein in an Instagram post.

In the post, she recalled an incident where the producer told her to “shake her ass” at a movie premiere and not to look like a lesbian.

She said that the post was not a response to Weinstein’s imprisonment, but rather a continuation of a conversation she wanted to have about the issue of bullying.

“I was never sexually attacked by Harvey. There was never a sexual component. But there was really extreme bullying. And that’s not just Harvey. I have eight or nine anecdotes I could have said about Harvey, and countless I could have said about other people,” Beckinsale said in the interview.

The actor believes that she experienced professional backlash as a result of her encounters with Weinstein.

She said, “I think there are a lot of women in this industry who said no to all sorts of things – and I don’t just mean sexually – and suddenly found that the cover of the magazine they were going to do fell apart, or the movie that they were going to do fell away.”

“There was backlash. Just like with any bully. It only takes one phone call to go, ‘Don’t hire her.’ If somebody has a vindictive agenda or feels you’ve overstepped by saying no, it’s just one or two phone calls to cause you real trouble. It’s not a huge effort,” she added.

Beckinsale is not the only woman to have come forward with allegations against Weinstein.

Nearly 90 women, including Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek, have accused the producer of sexual misconduct.

Weinstein was convicted of criminal sexual act in the first degree and rape in the third degree in February of this year.

His conviction came after former actress Jessica Mann accused him of raping her in 2013, and former production assistant Mimi Haleyi accused him of forcibly performing oral s** on her in 2006.

The #MeToo movement, which was sparked by the allegations against Weinstein, has brought about significant changes in the entertainment industry and beyond.

It has led to increased awareness of the issue of sexual harassment and assault, and has prompted many women to come forward with their own stories.
