John Cusack calls journalist ‘Ignorant Little F*ck’ after confrontation at baseball game

A video of John Cusack being confronted by a Barstool Sports journalist over his White Sox fandom has gone viral, and the actor is being commended for his cool demeanor in the face of adversity.

Cusack, a native of Illinois and a fan of the crosstown Cubs, has previously stated that he supports both clubs. He also acted in the film “Eight Men Out,” which is about a gambling incident involving White Sox players during the 1919 World Series.

Dave Williams of Barstool Sports accosted Cusack outside Guaranteed Rate Field in a video that has gone viral. Williams has previously expressed his displeasure with Cusack’s support for both the White Sox and the Cubs.

As Cusack attempted to greet him with a fist bump, Williams said, “You’re on my banned bandwagon list.”

Cusack mentioned again that he grew up rooting for both teams.

He said, “You can’t tell me where I can go. I can like whoever I want.” He told Williams they’d have to “agree to disagree.”

The actor then put Williams even more in his place by questioning him on his White Sox knowledge. Cusack began asking Williams whether he knew who some former White Sox players were, but Williams was unable to respond. Instead, the Barstool Sports staffer explained that because he is younger, he is unfamiliar with the athletes.

Cusack said, “That proves your ignorance.”

Williams, of course, made sure the altercation was recorded and posted on Barstool’s Twitter.

In a series of tweets, Cusack addressed the incident, calling Williams’ actions “not smart or polite.” The two soon engaged into a heated Twitter feud and traded obscene remarks.

Cusack called Williams a “silly pathetic little troll,” a “collosal [sic] idiot,” and a “stupid f–k,” among other things.

He also alleged that he was using him as “click bait.”

“I wouldn’t do that to a child,” he said, “but the boy needs to learn some manners.”

“Stop this,” Patricia Arquette wrote on Twitter in response to the video. “This is a bad example to kids and not in the spirit of baseball. You don’t get to decide who can cheer for who. Stop it. [You’re] bringing a darkness into all of this.”

In other tweets, he compares Williams to Donald Trump Jr. and calls him a child.

“Not this lifetime sir 😉 sone swine need to be taught or remember some basic manners and an attitude of decency towards others – we are not all viral opportunities anc moments to be used by some idiot,” one tweet said.

Cusack has previously been named on Williams’ “banned White Sox bandwagon list,” which includes former President Barack Obama and Dominos Pizza, among more than 50 others.

The White Sox and Astros’ American League Division Series Game 4 has been delayed for 1:07 p.m. Tuesday in Chicago due to rain.
