Joe Biden Snubs King Charles Again, Cancels Plans for State Visit

US President Joe Biden will be meeting with the Royal Family during his visit to London, but it won’t be the grand affair that his predecessor, Donald Trump, enjoyed.

Biden seems to have veered away from a meeting with King Charles III for the second time, having already missed the King’s coronation.

While the White House had initially indicated that a proper state visit was in the works, there is now confusion surrounding whether it was ever on the table.

Instead, Biden’s upcoming visit to the UK will be a whirlwind, with the President spending less than 24 hours in London before continuing his European trip with a visit to Latvia.

In contrast, a full state visit typically lasts around four days and includes an 82-gun salute and a lavish dinner at Buckingham Palace, as was hosted for Donald Trump in 2019 during his visit to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

According to a source in London, there was no invitation for a state visit this time around.

The intention was to move away from the headlines about Biden snubbing Charles during the coronation and demonstrate a strong relationship between the two leaders.

However, the White House appears to have mishandled the situation.

Around the time of the coronation, White House spokeswoman Karen Jean-Pierre claimed that Biden and Charles had spoken on the phone and that the monarch had extended an invitation for an official visit.

She stated that during the call, the King had even offered a state visit, which the President had accepted.

This led to expectations of a forthcoming state visit.

However, the official record of the call did not mention anything about a state visit.

Instead, it stated that the President expressed his desire to meet the King in the United Kingdom at a later date.

Despite the confusion, a US official confirmed that Biden would indeed be meeting with the Royal Family during his brief visit to London, which has been described by British media as a mini-state visit.

Additionally, Biden is expected to meet with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak when he visits in July.

In conclusion, Joe Biden’s decision to forego a proper state visit with King Charles III for the second time has raised eyebrows and created confusion.

While the White House initially hinted at a state visit, it seems that plans have changed.
