Jennifer Lopez, a multi-talented entertainer, has shared her own #MeToo story in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

She discussed the time a director sexually harassed her early on in her career.

Lopez stated, “I haven’t been abused in the way some women have, but have I been told by a director to take off my shirt and show my boobs? Yes, I have. But did I do it? No, I did not.”

The incident occurred on one of her first films and Lopez felt frightened to speak out against it.

She said, “When I did speak up, I was terrified. I remember my heart beating out of my chest, thinking, ‘What did I do? This man is hiring me!’ It was one of my first movies.”

“But in my mind I knew the behavior wasn’t right. It could have gone either way for me. But I think ultimately the Bronx in me was like, ‘Nah, we’re not having it.’”

This is not the first time Lopez has opened up about this topic. In January, she traveled to Puerto Rico to assist with relief efforts following Hurricane Maria.

At the same time, the Golden Globes were taking place and many women in the entertainment industry were wearing black in support of the Time’s Up movement.

Lopez, who was not in Hollywood at the time, gave a speech in which she expressed her support for the movement.

She said, “A lot of the women with #TimesUp are standing up for equality, to be treated equally. I stand here today in black doing the same from far away. It’s the same thing here in Puerto Rico: we want to be treated equally.”

Lopez has been a vocal supporter of Time’s Up since its inception.

In January, she posted on Instagram, “Everyone’s resolution for the year: No more accepting sexual harassment and inequality at work as normal. It’s not normal. #TIMESUP.”

The singer and actress has also been candid about the challenges of being a successful woman in the entertainment industry.

In 2016, she spoke about how she dislikes the label of “diva” that she has been given and how men who behave badly on set do not receive the same criticism.

She said, “I’ve always been fascinated by how much more well behaved we have to be than men. I did get a moniker of being a diva, which I don’t deserve, because I’ve always been a hard worker, always on time.”

Lopez also discussed how the male-dominated dynamics of many sets made it harder for her to express her opinions.

She stated, “The boys’ club that they form sometimes makes you feel like, ‘Oh, I can’t say anything.’”

Lopez’s story is similar to those shared by many other actresses in Hollywood. However, the Harvey Weinstein scandal has sparked a movement for change in the industry.

The Time’s Up initiative and the #MeToo movement have brought attention to the problem of sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace.

Many people, including Lopez, are speaking out and demanding change.

With the growing number of women speaking out, the entertainment industry is beginning to see a shift towards greater equality and respect for all individuals.
