Jason Statham was a DIVER in the Commonwealth Games at Age 20 – WATCH VIDEO

An extraordinary video of the movie star performing on the stage during the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland has surfaced from the BBC archives.

The future actor’s toned and strong figure is on display while representing England, while wearing a tight speedo. Statham had a full head of hair, as opposed to his distinctive bald look nowadays.

It appears that the Cockney action star, best known for his bad-boy appearances in blockbuster action films like The Transporter, Snatch, and Mean Machine, was once a competitive diver.

Statham, then 20, failed to win a medal despite competing in three separate categories – though we assume earning millions and dating a gorgeous supermodel means the Transporter actor doesn’t lose much sleep.

Statham’s dives are unsteady in the video, and after obtaining a poor score, the clip shows him weary and lying against a wall, with the commentator remarking that he seems “very dejected.”

“Really gone to pieces in this final, Jason,” the commentators can be heard saying.

The British actor, now 46, spent 12 years as a member of Britain’s National Diving Squad as a child. Guy Ritchie spotted him eight years later, after he had stopped diving, and cast him in his 1998 picture Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

He collaborated with Ritchie once more in Snatch, co-starring with Brad Pitt and Benicio del Toro.

The video has since gone viral, as Britain kicks off the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow today.
