How Judy Garland was assaulted by MGM boss Louis B. Mayer

MGM studio head Louis B. Mayer has been accused of sexually assaulting legendary actress Judy Garland.

The allegations were made in an unfinished memoir written by Garland, which was discovered by biographer Gerald Clarke two decades ago.

Clarke wrote about the allegations in his 2009 biography of Garland, Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland.

According to Clarke, Mayer had a reputation for expecting s-x from “female help” as an unspoken “perk of power” in Hollywood.

Garland’s memoir revealed that Mayer approached her for s-x several times between the ages of 16 and 20.

Mayer would often compliment Garland on her singing, but would then place his hand on her breast to show where her heart was.

Garland wrote that she finally had the courage to tell Mayer to stop, to which he responded by crying and asking how she could reject him when he claimed to love her.

Garland’s memoir also revealed that other executives had made similar threats to her. She wrote about one executive who told her that he would ruin her if she did not sleep with him.

This is similar to the threats made by producer Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused of sexual assault and harassment by over 60 women.

The revelations about Mayer’s behavior shed light on the long-standing problem of sexual assault and harassment in Hollywood.

Many other iconic actresses, including Marilyn Monroe, Joan Collins, and Shirley Temple, have also claimed to be victims of sexual assault in the industry.

Garland’s unpublished memoir was never released, and she died at the age of 47 in 1969 from an accidental drug overdose.

An adaptation of Clarke’s biography of Garland had been in the works for many years, with Anne Hathaway set to star.

However, the project was scrapped and it was recently announced that Renée Zellweger will star as Garland in a biopic titled Judy, which will follow the actress during her final concerts in London in 1968.

The accusations against Mayer highlight the pervasive culture of sexual misconduct in Hollywood, which has only recently come to light through the numerous allegations made against Weinstein and other powerful figures in the industry.

The issue of sexual assault and harassment in Hollywood has been a longstanding one, and it is likely that there are many more stories that have yet to come to light.

The allegations against Mayer also serve as a reminder of the need for greater accountability for those who abuse their power and position in the industry.

It is essential that perpetrators of sexual assault and harassment are held accountable for their actions, and that victims are given the support and justice they deserve.

The entertainment industry has been rocked by the ongoing revelations of sexual misconduct, and it is clear that there is much work to be done to address the problem and create a safer and more equitable environment for all.

The accusations against Mayer are a reminder of the need for continued vigilance and action to combat sexual assault and harassment in Hollywood and beyond.
