Hayley Atwell GR0PED Chris Evans

Hayley Atwell, who played Agent Peggy Carter in the 2011 Marvel film Captain America: The First Avenger, recently revealed a moment of improvisation that has become one of the best unscripted moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Atwell spoke to Esquire about her experience filming the movie and how she reacted to seeing Chris Evans shirtless for the first time.

Atwell shared that when she met with director Joe Johnston, she hadn’t seen the script yet, and they spoke for about an hour.

She also shared that she had an instinctive response to seeing Chris Evans shirtless for the first time, which resulted in the now-famous improvisation.

She explained that when Evans first took his shirt off on set, she grabbed his chest without thinking.

“They kept it in the film,” Atwell said.

“So we did a couple of takes of me being really inappropriate with my hand on his pec for the duration of the scene.”

The improvisation was well-received by the director and the audience, and it has become one of the most memorable moments in the MCU.

Atwell’s portrayal of Agent Peggy Carter has also been widely praised, and she has gone on to play the character in other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects.

Chris Evans, who played Captain America in the film, has spoken about the grueling workout sessions he underwent to get in shape for the role.

In an interview with Men’s Health, Evans revealed that the transformation process was painful, and he would find any excuse not to go to the gym.

However, he knew that he had to do it to portray the character accurately.

Evans’ trainer Simon Waterson opened up about the actor’s workout routine in an interview with British GQ.

He revealed that the procedure included hand-to-hand combat, swimming, explosive strength, sprinting, and mirror muscle.

Waterson also explained that they worked on making Evans look a bit bigger and leaner than he was in the rest of the movie for the shot where he comes out of the machine.

However, he emphasized that the aesthetics were almost like a byproduct of being an athlete, and the focus was on performance.

Captain America: The First Avenger is available on Disney+.

As fans revisit the film, they can appreciate the improvisation that made it to the final cut, thanks to Hayley Atwell’s instinctive response to seeing Chris Evans shirtless.
