Harry and Meghan’s Podcast Deal with Spotify Cancelled After Failing to Meet Productivity Benchmarks

It’s over for Harry and Meghan’s estimated $25 million podcast deal with Spotify, which has been cancelled after less than a year.

The couple issued a joint statement with Spotify, saying they have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series.

The announcement comes just two weeks after Spotify said it had to cut 200 jobs within its podcast unit.

According to sources, the deal ended due to failing to meet the productivity benchmarks.

Meghan sat down with Mariah Carey, Paris Hilton, and Serena Williams, but Spotify expected more content from the couple.

After only delivering one series with 12 episodes, it was hard to justify the full reported $25 million payout.

However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex still have a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix, and Harry has a four-book contract with Penguin Random House estimated to be worth $35 to $40 million, which produced his autobiography, “Spare.”

Royal expert Katie Nicholl advises that Harry should focus on philanthropy, helping young people, and military veterans, which he is passionate about.

He should not be trashing his family or taking big money deals to capitalize on family rifts and everything else.

Meanwhile, in the UK, a TV showdown is shaping up as Meghan versus King Charles.

Tomorrow, Netflix begins streaming Meghan’s former series, “Suits,” which happens to be the same day as King Charles’ birthday parade, Trooping the Colour.

Sources say Harry and Meghan were not invited.

The couple’s podcast, “Archewell Audio,” launched in December 2020, featuring a holiday special with guests including Elton John, James Corden, and Stacey Abrams.

In the series, Harry and Meghan discuss various topics, including mental health, race, and social justice.

In an interview with NPR, Meghan said, “We laugh and we have a lot of fun, but we also I think dig a lot deeper than some of us have been allowed to before.”
