Hailey Baldwin Wears Crystal Thong on Met Gala Red Carpet
On Monday night in New York, Hollywood’s who’s who exhibited their most outlandish and over-the-top ensembles for the Met Gala’s Camp theme.
When it came to red carpet attire, however, it was Hailey Bieber (née Baldwin) who attracted the eye of many.
She attended the Gala without her new husband Justin Bieber, yet she was dressed in all the hallmark fashions of a trophy wife. She’s got the pastels, the gown, the winged liner, and the bow, but there’s no sign of a “Camp” theme until she turns around.
Hailey Bieber arrived dressed in what looked to be an Alexander Wang ensemble at first sight. The model wore a low ponytail with a black bow and a modest turtleneck dress with strappy shoes. What about the back? Bieber’s outfit, on the other hand, was significantly more risque. It had a low-cut back that dropped down to show a matching pink ultra-high thong with a bedazzled “Wang” logo.
The G-string is a “crystal nameplate thong,” according to designer Wang.
Trending:
Baldwin’s two back tattoos, done by celebrity tattoo artist Jon Boy, were visible in the semi-scandalous outfit. She also appeared to be particularly tanned after returning from the Bahamas. Baldwin hit back against trolls who said she overdid it in the sun last week, saying, “So today the internet is mad at me for getting too tan!!!!! Shoot!!!!” she wrote along with a selfie. “I’ll do my best not to get so much sun next time I’m on vacation!”
Hailey has attended the Costume Institute Gala before. She walked the carpet with Shawn Mendes last year in a very princessy grey gown with a really high slit. In 2017, she wore a crop top with a tiered skirt that matched. Her most dramatic Met appearance to date is this bedazzled thong number.
Bieber isn’t the first celebrity to walk down the red carpet in a G-string. Kendall Jenner wore a translucent La Perla couture gown that displayed a plain black thong that slipped well above the hipbones for the “Rei Kawakubo/Commes des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” Met Gala in 2017. Rose McGowan and Marilyn Manson both wore a nude dress at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1998, which revealed underwear that was as thin as floss.
Hundreds of celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga, attended the Met Gala to provide their take on this year’s theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion.”
