Gary Busey grabbed several women’s buttocks: Police

Actor Gary Busey has been accused of committing criminal sexual offenses at the annual Monster Mania Convention in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, by two women and the father of another woman, according to a criminal complaint obtained by NBC10.

Busey allegedly attempted to undo a woman’s bra and grabbed the buttocks of two other women during the horror movie convention, which took place from Aug. 12-14.

Two of the women reported that they were having their picture taken with Busey when he put his face near one of the women’s breasts and “asked where she got them” before trying to unlatch her bra strap.

The second woman said he grabbed her buttocks.

According to the complaint, Busey committed the alleged acts “for the purpose of sexually arousing or sexually gratifying himself or degrade the victim, using physical force or coercion.”

The day after the first incidents, a man reported to Cherry Hill police detectives that Busey had assaulted his daughter.

The woman also told detectives that Busey had grabbed her buttocks during a photoshoot at the convention.

Busey, 78, was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact, and one count of harassment.

When detectives contacted the actor, he initially denied groping anyone but then asked the detectives to apologize to the victims and talk them out of pursuing complaints, according to the complaint.

He also allegedly told detectives “that sometimes it is possible to accidentally touch someone in a specific body part.”

Busey is best known for playing the musician Buddy Holly in the 1978 film “The Buddy Holly Story.” NBC10 reached out to his representatives for comment, but they did not respond.

The Monster-Mania Convention said in a Facebook post that after attendees complained, an unspecified “celebrity guest was removed from the convention and instructed not to return.”

“Monster-Mania also encouraged the attendees to contact the police to file a report,” the company said, adding that behavior that compromised the safety and well-being of attendees would not be tolerated.

“Monster-Mania will continue to assist the authorities in any and every way possible,” it said.

According to the criminal complaint, one of the women who accused Busey of grabbing her buttocks at the convention said that she was “shocked, scared, and violated” by his actions.

Another woman who reported that Busey attempted to undo her bra strap said that she “felt violated and disgusted.”

The criminal complaint alleges that Busey touched the women “for the purpose of sexually arousing or sexually gratifying himself or degrade the victim, using physical force or coercion.”

If convicted, he could face up to 18 months in prison for each of the charges against him.

The charges against Busey are part of a larger movement to hold powerful men accountable for their actions.

The #MeToo movement has led to a number of high-profile accusations and convictions of men accused of sexual harassment or assault, including Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby.

Busey is the latest in a string of celebrities to face allegations of sexual misconduct.

In 2017, actor Kevin Spacey was accused of sexual assault by a number of men, and his career has since been largely derailed.

In 2018, comedian Louis C.K. admitted to masturbating in front of several women, and his career has also taken a hit as a result.

According to a study published by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, one in five women and one in 71 men will be raped at some point in their lives.

The same study found that one in three women and one in six men will experience sexual violence during their lifetime. These statistics highlight the importance of taking accusations of sexual misconduct
