Gal Gadot Reportedly Paid a Whopping 46X Less Than Henry Cavill for DC Debut in Solo Movie

Gal Gadot, a well-known actress in the entertainment industry and widely recognized for her role as Wonder Woman, reportedly received significantly less pay than Henry Cavill for their solo films.

While Gadot has given numerous box office hits such as Red Notice, Death on the Nile, Heart of Stone, and Bride of Frankenstein, it was her DC production’s comic book hero movie, Wonder Woman, that brought her global fame.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gadot and Cavill were paid the same amount for their individual films.

This debunked rumors about the vast pay difference between the two DC stars.

A source familiar with both actors’ income nominations shared that Gadot received the same upfront income, if not slightly more, for Wonder Woman than Cavill did for Man of Steel.

The salary discrepancy rumors were based on a report by Elle magazine that had posted salary information previously published in other publications.

However, they had not acknowledged the difference between upfront salary and bonuses and performance escalators for the actors.

This news caused quite a stir on social media, highlighting Hollywood’s gender gap in wages as a mainstream issue.

Elle had reported that Gadot was paid $300,000 for Wonder Woman, while Henry Cavill received $14 million for Man of Steel.

However, the source called the figure ridiculous.

It is important to note that Cavill’s $14 million paycheck was not his basic pay but rather a result of the massive box office success of Man of Steel.

The film earned approximately $668 million globally and set the foundation for Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Gadot is not the first actor to receive a modest sum for a solo film.

Chris Evans, who portrays Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reportedly earned $300,000 for his film Captain America: The First Avenger.

Later, he earned $2 million for his work in the Avengers franchise.

Similarly, Thor star Chris Hemsworth reportedly received $200,000 for his first solo as the God of Thunder, and Robert Downey Jr. was paid $500,000 for his role in the first part of the Iron Man franchise.

Despite receiving a modest sum, Gadot’s Wonder Woman was a massive hit, grossing more than $573 million globally.

This success led to her reprising the role in her 2020 film, Wonder Woman 1984, which is now available for streaming on Max and can be rented on Apple TV.

In conclusion, while rumors of a significant pay difference between Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill for their solo films were debunked, the issue of gender gap in wages in Hollywood remains a mainstream concern.

Gadot’s success in Wonder Woman has proven that she is a talented actress, regardless of her paycheck, and fans are eagerly anticipating her future projects.
