Gal Gadot didn’t want to be crowned Miss Universe

At least for Gal Gadot, all that glitters isn’t gold.

The Wonder Woman star admitted in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel that she didn’t want to win Miss Universe in 2004. She was a hesitant beauty queen at the age of 18 when she competed for the Miss Universe title, which was won by Jennifer Hawkins of Australia.

Tanushree Dutta, who played Tanushree in Aashiq Banaya Aapne, appears to have competed for Miss Universe in the same year.

When she was chosen to represent Israel in the international pageant, the actress was taken aback and knew she didn’t want to win.

“I never thought I would win, and then I won, and it scared me,” she said of winning the Miss Israel 2004 pageant.

Gadot admitted that she had prepared herself not to win the Miss Universe competition after that. Gadot, who is 5’10”, has tweaked her appearance since winning the Miss Israel competition. In Ecuador, where the MU pageant was held, she wore her hair in unattractive curls.

“I was very naughty,” she admits of her experience in the Miss Universe 2004 contest. “I wasn’t behaving. I am a really good girl, but because I was afraid I am going to win again because I did not want to win the Miss Israel pageant and I won. I figured oh no, I don’t want them to choose me again, so I came down late for rehearsals. I wasn’t wearing the right evening gowns for breakfast. I even remember Paula Abdul, she was one of the judges there. She was asking me a question and I was like, ‘I am sorry, English not so good.’”

Gadot is a worldwide celebrity and a superhero at the top of her game after thirteen years.

Gal made her debut in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, when she dominated every scene she appeared in. She is currently poised to reprise her Wonder Woman role in a number of upcoming films.
